Kat is the voice behind this summer's hit, "Whine Up". She is a 19-year-old Dominican singer, and is rumored to have 5 octaves. Umm....that's Mariah status right there. Aside from that, she's a clasically trained opera singer! She's obviously very talented, and here is her debut album! 1 Intro 2 Run The Show 3 Am I Dreaming 4 Whine Up (featuring Elephant Man) 5 Feel What I Feel 6 Love Me, Leave Me 7 In The End 8 Love Confusion 9 Animal 10 Be Remembered 11 Enjoy Saying Goodbye 12 Bonus Track - Whine Up (En Espanol) 13 Bonus Track - Am I Dreaming (En Español) 14 Bonus Track - Run The Show (En Español)

From AMG:
3.5 stars
With four years of opera training behind her, it's clear that 19-year-old pop singer Kat DeLuna — who was born in the Bronx, spent several years in Santo Domingo, and eventually returned to the U.S. — wasn't signed merely on the basis of her looks and passable ability to carry a tune. Her debut, 9 Lives, features credible streaks of dancehall, Latin pop, Euro-pop, modern R&B, freestyle and yes, (albeit to a much lesser extent) opera as well. To DeLuna (who co-wrote everything) and her producer RedOne's credit, the album never quite sounds calculated or unnatural. While appealing multicultural/genre-crossing pop is nothing new, and a few tracks here are boilerplate and lack bite, DeLuna's controlled exuberance, ability to adapt to numerous styles, and considerable vocal ability keep it all afloat. The week the album was released, "Whine Up," the dancehall-flavored lead single featuring Elephant Man, had already been on the Hot 100 chart for two months, and it's the album's definite center, though a handful of potential singles could break the mainstream pop singles chart while approaching the tops of the dance, R&B, and Latin charts. On the surface, it might seem like she's an exceptionally talented singer who happened to strike at the right time with the right sound, but the majority of 9 Lives makes it known that she should be around for some time.
Track picks: "Whine Up", "Feel What I Feel", "Love Me, Leave Me", "Be Remembered"

Kat DeLuna, 9 Lives: * * 1/2 (out of four) A fine whine
The search for the next Rihanna continues with this fledgling dance queen, a Dominican-born 19-year-old who sings in English and (on a few tracks) Spanish. After a bravado-laden intro, DeLuna segues into the thumping Run the Show and the single Whine Up (featuring Elephant Man), both of which nod unabashedly to Rihanna’s Pon de Replay. So long as DeLuna keeps the mood light and the beats tight, 9 Lives is a diverting, if not exactly dazzling, debut.

Sounds like it's a good album. I heard a bit about her on the radio a couple weeks back. Although she has a background in opera, she was supposedly discovered through a Pepsi-sponsored talent contest, which is how she got signed to a record deal.

I've seen her in a few interviews...and she's quite full of herself

I've never, ever gotten that vibe from her.
In fact, quite the contrary: I've always found her to be ridiculously humble.
