While i am not usually a fan of re-mixes, mashes and modified re-issues, I will give the Martin's credit, for a well done, fresh sounding album. While the 5.1 version did nothing for me, still every song required me to re-examine the original (both the 45 & lp versions in some cases) to decide if the new version was as good as the original and what was different. A interview with the Martin's is here: www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,1562172_4_0_,00.html for those who are interested in it. It will be interesting how far up the "pop" charts this will go (it is #1 on Amazon in the USA and #2 in the UK, and that was pre-release sales) Of course those who only get their music digitally will miss out. Itunes is still in a Apple vs Apple battle and is Beatleless. I could go on and on about the album, but The Beatles is from My Generation, so I may have different expectations from this release then the current pop audience. So have you heard it? What do you think..

Definitely on my Xmas list.
And so far, it's battling for runner up positions with U2 & Oasis in the UK as Westlife's new album seems on course for #1. And in the US, it's also battling for runner up positions (projected to do 250k) as Jay Z is headed for #1.

I'm definitely interested in hearing it. Some examples are up. (as of this morning (Nov 24th) still holding on to #2 in the US & UK on Amazon). Billboard will be interesting, as its getting easier to ignore first week chart positions, since just about everything with a previous 'track record' enters in the top 10 these days, but by the fourth week is out of the Top 30, and sometimes the top 50.

Well, "Love" entered the US chart at #4 and the UK Chart at #3, #3 on the Irish chart, #1 in Canada, #2 in Australia. Not at all bad for a band who have not recorded a note in 37 years.

The Beatles are still up there (@ Number 8). U-2 & Oasis never made it. In the UK, Take That & Westlife kept Oasis, U-2 & The Beatles out of #1. (but they are still all Top 10) Still, not bad for a group that gets no airplay (on CHP/Top 40) and No (legal) Digital Downloads.
