Some first impression comments:
The album is very different from any of her past CDs. The three previous albums I think all have a certain connection to each other but the new one is a completely different direction. New themes, completely different instrumentation and a new sound for Chantal. The CD as a whole is strings based, which is neat. Lots of string arrangements in pretty much every song and I love the cello too. The first single 'All I Can Do' almost sticks out like a sore thumb, except the album version is slightly different from the radio version so it fits alittle better. Aside from that, the track that sounds most like old Chantal would be 'Wonderful', which I will predict to be a future single (probably second). I also predict 'Ghosts Of You' to be a single too since that song is the album track that Chantal seems to talk about a lot. The album design is fairly simple but it's interesting. If I'm correct, the CD was made really without much imput from the label so as a result, the sound isn't as glossy and highly produced, which is a good thing. It's not a pop album. I would classify it in radio format terms as Smooth Jazz even, which is odd to say. She sounds less mainstream, and some songs are Sarah Sleanish too. I'll say that the songs and the CD will take a while to grow on me because that's the type of songs they are but I definately think in the end, this could be maybe my second to even favourite Chantal album.
