I downloaded this one, and I honestly don't really like it. I like "Maneater", "Showtime", "Undercover", "I Am", "All Good Things", "What I Wanted", "Do It", and "In God's Hands", but that's about it.

^Undercover is so hot!! I am so surprised that it's not on the regular version of the album!

It's a shame that so many of the tracks you like aren't even on the North American release... but when it all comes down to it, it's still 8 songs, and that's a LOT!

With Busta at #1 this week just over 200k, and an inevitable 55% drop for him next week... Nelly Furtado should very well debut at #1 in the US. Canada seems pretty obvious too.

Fantastic album. Got it Tuesday. I'm very surprised they didn't include Undercover. I have it since I bought the Maneater UK single Aside from the singles, faves are: Afraid [3rd single, please!], No Hay Igual, Showtime, Te Busque, and In God's Hands

^OMG I know! Why no Undercover, Nelly? That songs is single-worthy! Hopefully they aren't doing a rerelease sorta thing though. Well you can buy Undercover on iTunes.

I really think this album is a very weak attempt by the artist with record company/management blessing to 'create a hit'. It will do so on a short term chart placement, but will not, for the long term give her a place to continue to grow as a songwritter & performer.
A album full of glossy pop, that will be quickly forgotten by radio as soon as another brand name (throwaway song) artist (Madonna/Kylie/Christina/etc) comes out with new material.
While this might let her keep her record deal, she will never be able to return to the possibiltys the (Still) young artist once had. I found no passion in this recording, which her previous ones had, both in the music and the lyrics. Alot of throwaway words and uninspired rhythm tracks.
I think William Shakespeare said it best:
This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.
She hasnt been true, to either herself or her fans. How soon will her new-found fans turn on her?

So it seems as though getting "loose" worked in Nelly's favor..
#1 in the US (219k) #1 in Canada (34k)

Here's a review from Slant magazine. I sort of have to agree with the reviewer. This could've been a full-blow dance-pop album if the few ballads were left off. I gotta agree with that review. The ballads are pretty good - not exceptional, but good - but they ruin the mood of the album so much. That was a huge mistake. Still, it's a pretty good album.
