Missy Elliott's reality show The Road to Stardom With Missy Elliott may not debut on UPN until sometime next year, according to Billboard, but the show will provide a candid look at what it's like trying to make it in the music industry. Elliott serves as co-executive producer of the show, which is out to find the next big Hip-Hop star. Contestants went on tour with Elliott, with the winner receiving a record deal with Elliott's Gold Mind label.
Missy is also part of the panel of judges on the show that includes producer Dallas Austin, songstress Teena Marie and Elliott's manager, Mona Scott. Madonna, Busta Rhymes and Jermaine Dupri all make guest appearances and offer the contestants some advice. UPN plans to air it as a mid-season replacement with the premiere date still to be determined.
Elliott wants to make it known that this is no American Idol. "What I was specifically looking for was, of course, somebody with talent. And it's not necessarily that they have to be the best singer or the best MC," she told Billboard. "It has to be something about them, like character, where they have a way of [making] a believer out of you."

As much as they try to deny that it's not another stab at American Idol, at the end of the day all these shows are practically the same.

What is Missy Elliott going to do in her reality show? Eat small tuna fish from one big dish?
