Does anyone else watch this? For a popular show, this almost never gets discussed on boards.

Yes I have watched it and I must say I am disappointed in this season.
I just can't seem to get into any of the action that happens on the show or even the drama. Now Frankie left the show because she is a baby and they bring in some 18 year old guy for two more episodes? How foolish is that...
I still think the earlier Real Worlds were much better than they have gotten lately. I found the Las Vegas one absolutely ridiculous, and Paris was just OK.

I've watched a few episodes of the San Diego season, but I find it very hard to get into. I can't seem to develop any kind of attachment to any of the people. In past seasons, I've cared what happens to at least 2 or 3 of the 7 roommates, but this year I don't really care about any of them.
I think you're right about the earlier Real Worlds being better than the recent ones. With the earlier ones, the roommates didn't really have too much of an idea of what to expect when they went to live in the house, so the action and drama that happened was more real. Now, these kids that are moving into the house have 12 or 13+ years of watching past seasons to draw on. It seems like most of the roommates don't even go on Real World for the experience anymore...which is what Real World used to be about - the experience of living with six strangers for several months. Most of them do it to get 15 minutes of fame. You can tell which ones are the fame-junkies, because they're the same people who always show up for every Real World/Road Rules Challenge (eg. Mike & Coral from the "Back To New York" season, Trishelle from Las Vegas, et al.)
I think the last truly riveting season of Real World was season 3 in San Francisco. Season 4 in London was snoozeworthy, and starting with season 5 in Miami and every season after that...each season has become increasingly plastic. I love the concept of The Real World, but something has to be done. Either it's time to finally end the series or do something to change the expectations that the seven strangers have going into the house, so that each season won't be the same.
