it’s the chart that started 2005 off…..
2005 saw mario’s track ‘‘let me love you’’ knock snoop dogg off the top spot with his upbeat track ‘‘drop it like it’s hot’’. apart from that the top 20 started off pretty slow probably due to the busy christmas and new year period. destiny’s child had a 6 spot move up the chart and shannon noll and avril lavigne started the year as the 1st debuts with “c’mon on aussie” and “nobody’s home”.
week 2 of 2005
week 2 saw mario with his 2nd week at the top and also saw ciara featuring missy elliott’s track “1, 2 step” jump 4 spots up the chart into the top 3. anthony callea’s (runner up of the 2nd season of australian idol series) remake of andrea bocelli’s song “the prayer’’ entered the top 5 at #4 this week while winner of the 2nd season of aussie idol saw cassie donavon’s song ‘‘listen with your heart’’ go down 8 spots to #19. jesse mccarthey’s song was the only debut this week at #15 with ‘‘beautiful soul’’.

week 3 saw mario’s 3rd week at the top, ciara moved one step closer to #2 with “1, 2 step”, gwen stefani’s “what your waiting for” reached top 5. linkin park & jay z’s mash up “numb/encore” and avril lavigne’s hit “nobody’s home” entered the top 10 this week and simple plan re-entered the top 20 at #18 with “welcome to my life which peaked at #6 in late 2004 and 50 cent 1st debuted the chart this week at #20 with “disco inferno” knocking off 2 aussie acts out of the top 20, joel turner and casey donavon (both aussie idol contestants).

week 4 saw Mario spend the whole month of january on top of the charts, ciara remained at #2, Anthony callea moved up to #3 and gwen moved up to #4 with “what your waiting for”. destiny’s child reached the top 5 with their hit “soldier” and linkin park & jay z moved closer up the chart at #6 with “numb/encore”. lil jon featuring ludacris and usher’s “lovers and friends” and kelly clarkson’s “since u been gone” entered the top 10 at #7 and #8 respectively. And snoop dogg made a 6 spot drop to #9 with his track “drop it like it’s hot”. shannon noll dived 6 spots out of the top 10 to unlucky #13. nelly & christina’s duet “tilt ya head back” re-enters the chart and ryan cabrera debuts at #18 with “true” knocking out both of last weeks new entries, simple plan’s “welcome to my life” and 50 cent’s “disco inferno.

week 5 was an interesting chart, 1stly mario was on top once again with “let me love you” and ciara remained at #2 with “1, 2 step”. snoop dogg fell 6 spots from #3 to #9 last week and this week see’s him do the complete reverse by moving up 6 spots from #9 to #3. destiny’s child moves up to #4 and green day move up 7 spots in to the top ten at #5 with their catchy track “boulevard of broken dreams” and at #6 see’s nelly’s former 2004 #1 ballad jump 12 spots back into the top 10 with “over and over”. at #7 see’s the 1st of 6 debuts this week with nitty and his up-beat track “nasty girl”. Other debuts this week were from the game featuring 50 cent with “how we do?” at #14, lazyboy’s song (if that’s what u call it) “underwear goes inside the pants” at #15, 50 cents re-enters the top 20 with "disco inferno" at #16, delta goodrem makes her 1st non top 10 debut ever with “mistaken identity at #17 and maroon 5 entered with “sunday morning” at #19. with 6 new songs in the chart that means we said goodbye to 6 songs. gwen stefani who was #4 last week with “what you waiting for” made a big dive out of the top 20, gavin degraw’s former top 5 hit “i don’t want to be” jumped out from #10, shannon noll also took a big jump out of the top 20 from #13 and former #1s “my boo” by usher and alicia keys and “lose my breath” from destiny’s child also exited the top 20 as did christina and nelly’s “tilt ya head back” which re-entered the top 20 last week. other notable’s were anthony callea’s dive from #3 to #10, linkin park and jay z’s “numb/encore” dive from #6 to #11, avril’s “nobody’s home” make a fall from #11 to #17. jesse mccathey and ryan cabrera still managed to move upwards at #12 and #13 respectively.

"how we do?" #10, "disco inferno" #11 & the new debuting "candy shop" at #15.
