What do you predict for your chart in 2005? I doubt Avril will have anymore #1s from her Under My Skin album after 'Nobody's Home'. I'd Sarah Slean might have another. I'm expecting some random band that never had any major hits on my chart to have a huge #1 in 2004 (a la Coldplay and 'Clocks'.)

I also doubt Avril will have more #1's, except if "Fall To Pieces" is released instead of "He Wasn't".
- Gwen, DC3, Lindsay should all secure #1's in early '04 - Kelly Clarkson should continue to be a force to be reckoned with - Rock/New Rock will continue to make a move. For the first time ever, there were only 4 less rock songs to chart in 2004 as opposed to Pop/Top 40 songs. From 2000-2003, only a couple of rock songs made it every year and hardly hit #1. (only ones that did - Numb, Bring Me To Life, Going Under)
- Since no new Britney is in sight, we should see LOTS of #1's.

well it appears as though there are 8 songs 'bulleting' in, or within, my top 15 for this coming weekend (including, most likely, a new number one), only one of which is Australian....I think that, with so many great Aussie bands putting albums out this year, it may be a tad more 'normal' next year, with more American etc.
Last year I had 22 different number ones; this year it is currently 21 largely thanks to the 8 and 10 week reigns at the top of two singles. I predict I'll have one or two songs dominate again, but the other weeks may be spread around a little more evenly.
It's hard to predict who will enjoy success because so many of the big artists made big moves this year. Perhaps we will have a stack of new artists tearing it up??
As a final tip, I think there may be a few good dance tunes on top, with a dance song taking #1 of the year, similar to last year when Plummet took it out. Hopefully DJ Sammy returns with some good songs.

If what I've heard is true, I expect a big year for Natalie Imbruglia and Melanie C. Ryan Cabrera, The Donnas and maybe even New Found Glory should be strongholds in the top 10 for a while.

- Kelly Clarkson will have major hits from "Breakaway". - Ashlee Simpson's next single will most likely be a top 10 smash, and "LaLa" might hit the top then, if not earlier. - Ryan Cabrera might have a few more hits. - Gwen Stefani will do well. - JoJo, Lindsay Lohan, and Hilary Duff might have more hits. - A few songs I missed over the past year or so might enter. Better late than never! What's the deal with her, is there a new album out?

-Jennifer Lopez will go straight to #1 -Destiny's Child should have no problem getting another hit with "Cater 2 U", if that is infact the 3rd single.
Everything else is pretty much up in the air as of now.

What's the deal with her, is there a new album out? Supposedly a single was going to be out in September, then December, now hopefully Jan or Feb. It has a name but it completely slipped out of my head.

As for my personal chart... more hits for 50 Cent, Eminem, and Lil Jon (duh), and possibly some of the newer rock songs may end up charting.

not for my chart, but for pop... in my ideal world:
-Crunk dies -Rap is less prodominant on the Pop chart -A revamped version of Anastacia gets released and is one of the biggest albums of the year -Kylie makes a 3rd huge comeback in the form of a new album towards the end of the year -Anastacia, Natasha Bedingfield, Kylie Minogue, Girls Aloud, & Eric Prydz all score top 10 Pop Hits

2005 should be a great year for music. There are a number of rumored releases that intrigue me. If the rumors are correct that Kate Bush will release her first CD in twelve years in 2005, she will have a huge year for me. I am also intrigued at the possibility that Guns N Roses will release their first studio album of new material since the Use Your Illusion era. Other acts that will have huge 2005’s will be Oasis, the Wreckers, Nine Inch Nails, Shakira, A System of a Down, Weezer, Tool, Christina Aguilera, Lillix and Charlotte Martin.
Also, Kelly Clarkson and U2 will continue to have hits throughout 2005 and Avril Lavigne will have one or two more hits from Under My Skin.

I really can't make predictions for the coming year. I can only guarantee that songs I like will chart. Songs that I like a lot will be largely successful. Just going with the flow with low expectations (as music has become more and more superficial and commercial).
