Only one song has debuted within the Top 10 in the history of my chart... "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia debuted at #10 back in 1998. the song was a big fat miss on my chart... peaking in the mid 20's

Between 1977, when my chart started, and 1982, I only charted songs that I owned. Songs would debut at #1 quite often when I would get around to actually buying them. When that became waaay too costly, I decided to allow all songs on. Soooo, since 1982 only 3 songs have debuted inside the top 10. #2 "I Say A Little Prayer" - Diana King #4 "I Will Go With You" - Donna Summer #8 "Take On Me" - A-HA all 3 of those were WAY before my chart started, so none of them got on

Over the years it has become increasingly harder for songs to debut at #1. This is not only from the expansion of the chart, but also due to chart rules. Until 91, a song had to be in the Top 40 to be on my chart. So by the time a lot of songs entered the Top 40, they could enter my chart at #1, because I'd been listening to them for weeks.
Starting in 99, a song had to appear in the Billboard Top 50, or a couple of the different Radio and Records charts.
By Mid-2002, any song could chart, so unless a song makes a huge initial impact, it is extremely difficult to enter at #1. So far this year, the highest debut has been at #28.

My chart started in October 2002. Since that time I have had only two tracks debut inside the Top Ten:
-- "Die Another Day" by Madonna (debuted at #6) -- "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera (debuted at #7)
Christina's track ended up not climbing any higher than #3, although it did spend a whopping 21 weeks on my 30-position chart ... and finished 2003 as my 4th biggest point-earner.
For those who are curious as to what my next highest debut position has been ... that would be #11 for the debuts of "Come into My World" by Kylie Minogue and "Shame" by Abs. Both of those tracks also topped out at #3, however!

It's extremely difficult to debut higher than #26.
There is a massive difference between debuting at #25 and #26, very hard

The only top 10 debut was Muse's "Map of the Problematique" at #9. The two songs that tied for second were Arcade Fire's "No Cars Go" and Ernesto vs. Bastian's "Dark Side of the Moon" at #11.
