I'm limiting it to artists that topped my weekly chart but never had any other chart action at all. This excludes quite a few artists, such as Nickelback (whose only chart entry "How You Remind Me" peaked at #2) and Saves The Day, who peaked at #1 with "At Your Funeral" but did peak at #28 with "Anything With You").

AMERICAN HI-FI (Flavor of the Week) Following the #7 hit FOTW, they didn't do much. The follow up, "Another Perfect Day," barely made it to #40 (back when my chart was a top 50). I did like "The Art of Losing," but I didn't hear it until months after it had come and gone.
ANGIE MARTINEZ (If I Could Go!) This was one of those great summer "jams" that I liked a lot, and still do when I hear it. It really dented the chart, spending twenty weeks on, and even a week at #1. Nothing before or since, though.
ANGIE STONE (Wish I Didn't Miss You) "Wish I Didn't Miss You" was a substantial hit in the summer of 2002, peaking at #12 and spending 16 weeks in the top 40. However, she's virtually dropped beneath the radar since.
BRANDNEW (Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades) "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" was a Bubbling Under for two months, but failed to chart. Finally, "Sic..." charted, then proceeded to crawl into the top ten and became one of the biggest "indie" songs of this year. They haven't released another single since, so maybe this is a little presumptuous.
CHINGY (Holidae In) Don't get me wrong... CHINGY SUCKS ASS. But this song is f'ing awesome (Ludacris and Snoop save it from being another "Right Thurr"). Peaked at #18 last winter, spending over ten weeks on.
FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE (Stacy's Mom) Nothing much to say. Great band, kickass song, but nothing else really impacted. The follow up, "Mexican Wine" spent a couple weeks as an On the Verge, but never had the strength to chart.
FUEL (Bad Day) Though this only peaked at #20, it had the longevity of a top ten song (at the time), staying on for over 15 weeks. Had my chart started sooner than summer '01, "Hemorrhage" and "Innocent" would've certainly been top ten hits. "Falls on Me" never did much for me, and didn't even make Bubbling Under. "A Million Miles" did even less. So, I guess Fuel is a fluke of a one-hit wonder, their only hit lost between pre-chart hits and post-hit flops.
INDIA.ARIE (Video) I caught onto "Video" fairly early, and it peaked at #19 in May '01, spending 10 weeks on in its first run. Then, after the Grammy's of 2002, it spent a handful more weeks on, this time peaking at #22. Her follow up, "Brown Skin," didn't do much, spending two weeks on and peaking at #44. I regret not charting "Ready for Love" higher (it only peaked at #45, but spent 5 weeks on), because it's her best song. Her fourth single, "Strength Courage and Wisdom" failed to chart. "Little Things" managed a handful of weeks on the Bubbling Under, but nothing since has made any waves.
OUR LADE PEACE (Somewhere Out There) This Canadian band really hit in the summer of '03 with "Somewhere Out There," which peaked at #3 and spent over twenty weeks on. Not to take away from their other great song, "Innocent," but at the time I guess it didn't make enough of an impression, only peaking at #29 with 10 weeks on. They had many hits in Canada before, but none that I've heard. Nothing since, either.
SLUM VILLAGE (Tainted) One of the better rap groups out there, but sadly a one-hit wonder. "Tainted" took off in the winter of '02/'03, and peaked just outside the top ten at #11. Nothing before or since.
TAMIA (Stranger in My House) This song was one of my favorites of '01, and made a #6 peak. Its follow up, "Tell Me Who," was a short-lived minor hit, but pulled off a peak of #28. "Officially Missing You" was a Bubbling Under this year for a few weeks, and I haven't heard much else from her.
THE DARKNESS (I Believe In a Thing Called Love) Great song, top ten hit. But, I either haven't liked or haven't heard either of the two follow-ups.
TRAIN (Something More) Train is a peculiar one-hit wonder. Their only hit was only a moderate one (#22 peak, 13 weeks on), but a hit non-the-less. I really disliked "Drops of Jupiter," so it didn't chart. "She's on Fire" managed to make Bubbling Under for two weeks. Hated "Calling All Angels" and their other new song, so those didn't chart. However, had my chart been around for it, I probably would've charted "Meet Virginia," and it might've been a more substantial hit. Their luck is very similar to Fuel's.
VANESSA CARLTON (A Thousand Miles) This song peaked at #10, but was a relatively fast rise/fall. Nothing else of her's charted. "White Houses" is looking to change this, though.
