Disagreed strongly on "Linger", it was and always will be a 90s classic to me, however we all have our own personal tastes. "Sunday Morning" was good I thought, great to listen to on a Sunday Morning. Agreed on Ashlee Simpson, "La La" though- I thought after the pop-perfection of "Pieces Of Me" it was a terrible follow-up and I was really disappointed in it.

50. Kelly Clarkson, "Miss Independent" (2003) As we move on to the top 50, we start with the least of Kelly's evils. The best song from my least favorite singer of all-time. This one is just bad, it's not simply horrendous.
49. Teddy Geiger, "For You I Will (Confidence)" (2006) Whiny little kid. Enough said.
48. Bette Midler, "Wind Beneath My Wings" (1989) Another example of a cheesy 80's borefest, continuing the god-awful "friendship" theme.
47. Carrie Underwood, "Some Hearts" (2005) Another Fox-TV-manufactured performer scores a hit! This time, it's just three years later, and it's got a country sound to it.
46. Kimberley Locke, "Wrong" (2004) She didn't even win the tournament, and she got a record deal! Unbelievable!
45. Anna Nalick, "Breathe (2 A. M.)" (2004) I have yet to like one single song from Anna Nalick. It's just not my taste. Besides, this song was released in 2004, and I can't imagine why pop radio is still playing it! Talk about overplay!
44. Kelly Clarkson, "A Moment Like This" (2002) She has had worse, far worse. But this was the song that made her a celebrity overnight (hot Twista reference!), and so it is surely deserving of a fairly high place on this list.
43. Green Day, "Wake Me Up When September Ends" (2004) Another song with a liberal, anti-war agenda behind it.
42. Bo Bice, "The Real Thing" (2005) The Real Thing? That's what I want in my music! A real singer, not one manufactured by Channel 5!
41. Akon, "Lonely" (2004) The last of three, and only three, urban songs to appear on this list. The 1960's Bobby Vinton samples is very annoying. After putting out a record like this, I'm not surprised that Akon is "lonely".

The only one of those I don't like is "Lonely". All the others, I must redface. Especially both Kelly songs, Bette Midler, Anna Nalick and Green Day.

at including Kelly Clarkson, and Green Day. I hate the Akon song though, it was number 1 here and I remember watching it on Top of the POps and thinking god this is awful, why are people buying this? WHY?

I'm surprised that the Akon song got to #1 in the UK. Most urban songs perform better here than they do there. "Lonely" only got to #4 in the US.

So Seb, did Neil Youngs "Let's Impeach The President" make it on?

So Seb, did Neil Youngs "Let's Impeach The President" make it on? I haven't heard it, so no. Doesn't sound like something I'd like, though. (If he had released it in 1998, I'd love it, of course.)

40. Carrie Underwood, "Inside Your Heaven" (2005) I have to be repetitive this time in order to prove a point. Simp corrected me for misquoting Twista on my last post, so now I'm going to make sure that I get it right! Fox TV turned Carrie Underwood into an overnight celebrity with the release of this song.
39. Hope Partlow, "Who We Are" (2005) We are who we are who we are who we are. DUH!
38. Crossfade, "Cold" (2004) A screamfest which had the unfortunate success of being a Pop crossover.
37. Kelly Clarkson, "The Trouble With Love Is" (2003) I hope Kelly does have a lot of trouble with love! She sure doesn't deserve any lovin', and she ain't gettin' it from me!
36. Bobby Vee, "Come Back When You Grow Up" (1967) Sad. Very sad.
35. Ruben Studdard, "Flying Without Wings" (2003) Another Fox-TV-manufactured singer, except this time he's living a delusion. If I do as Ruben advises, and I fly without wings, I will crash to the ground and die! Doesn't sound very good.
34. Clay Aiken, "This Is The Night" (2003) May 21, 2003 was the night. The night that TV made Clay.
33. Metric, "Poster Of A Girl" (2005) This song unimaginably became a favorite around here, and I just don't get it. I find the lead singer's voice quite irritating, especially when she throws in some words in a language I can't understand.
32. Nirvana, "Come As You Are" (1991) Screamfest. Simple as that.
31. Bob Sinclar, "Love Generation" (2005) Very often, an excellent song is released exclusively in Europe or Australia, with no adds date for the US, and therefore it never catches on as a hit here. That's what I was expecting with "Love Generation". But I was wrong, dead wrong. I couldn't be more grateful that this song didn't go for adds in the US. It was horrible.

I completely disagree on "Poster Of A Girl" and "Come As You Are". Both of which are really good. "The Trouble With Love Is" and "This Is The Night" were good too. The rest I either think are nothing special (the Idol singles get cheesier with every season), or I don't know (Bobby Vee, but he's probably geezerly).

30. David Gray, "Babylon" (2000) Bland and boring. But hey, that describes just about every AC song!
29. 10 Years, "Wasteland" (2005) What a total flop! This group's only hit barely cracked the Hot 100, squeezing in a single week at #94. On the Modern Rock chart, they managed a #1 hit, but were unable to have a successful follow-up. I'm expecting the same from 30 Seconds To Mars and similar screamfests.
28. Kelly Clarkson, "Low" (2003) Perfect title, 'cause that's how this song makes me feel!
27. The Tokens, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (1961) A geezerly borefest that even a 4-year-old could write. Seems tailor-made for a Disney film.
26. Cranberries, "Dreams" (1993) My apologies to Simp, once again.
25. Nickelback, "Photograph" (2005) Lead singer Chad Kroeger's voice sounds like one of those mangy-looking dogs that I pass by every day, the kind that guard the junkyards and auto garages here in the Bronx. Every time he sings, he reminds me of the growling of an enraged, menacing wild animal. This song is so unpleasant, and was so overplayed last year, that each time I hear it, I start to get a little queasy.
24. Ruben Studdard, "Sorry 2004" (2003) First of all, this song is by a grossly overweight American Idol performer. But I'll put my anti-Idol sentiments on the back burner for a second, and look at this song purely objectively. Now, what a way to date a song - to include the actual year of its release as part of the title! And what a futile attempt at trying to retain its longevity by dating it the year AFTER its release!
23. Kelly Clarkson, "Walk Away" (2004) That's exactly what I do when this song comes on.
22. Vanessa Williams, "Colors Of The Wind" (1995) Usually, if it's a Disney song, it sucks. There are a few notable exceptions, but this clearly isn't one of them.
21. David And David, "Welcome To The Boomtown" (1986) A one-hit wonder, and deservedly so. Depressing song, with an equally depressing video.
