I had a free Yahoo address several years old. It was full, so I changed to a different address. I didn't check my old one for several months, thinking it would remain (since it has endured for several years now with infrequent monitoring). Today, I signed in to access old contact info and realized that the account had been deemed inactive after four months and all my old messages were gone. It's disappointing since the main reason I initially switched to Yahoo from Hotmail was because Hotmail had deleted my account without warning way back when. Now, I think I'd better save my messages in my other accounts, since it looks like nothing lasts forever (I know Gmail says it will, but I think I've learned my lesson). I'm starting to cut and paste now, but it's slow, so I was wondering if there is any other way of saving old messages from free web-based mail accounts... Thanks.

G-Mail allows you to POP your messages using a regular email program like Outlook or Thunderbird... Give G-Mail a try...
