Is it true that there's no need to defrag Linux systms because Linux doesn't fragment files like Windows does? I thought I heard something like this before...

Linux generally uses the EXT2 file system rather than the FAT and NTFS systems used by MS-DOS and Windows. With the EXT2 file system, file fragmentation doesn't adversely affect system performance, which is why defragmentation isn't necessary when you use it.
