Probably more noted for his international hit "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off" from 1986, "The Word Is Out" was a Canadian and European hit in late 1984, with a distinct bass heavy-sound and a catchy chorus. Unfortunately this former member Soul Train dancer passed away in 1997 at age 40.

I don't really remember this song, but I wish I had heard of it. I liked "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off."

Although "The Word Is Out" didn't have much success on the Billboard Hot 100, it was huge on local Top 40 and urban radio where I was living at the time (Columbia, SC). I really liked "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off." I didn't know that Jermaine Stewart passed away - how sad.
