LONDON: Oasis can finally boast a Beatles bloodline after Ringo Starr's son was revealed as the band's latest drummer. Zak Starkey will make his debut with the group in front of 120,000 fans at the Glastonbury festival next month.
The Manchester band, who consciously aped the Beatles sound and image, will share a bill with Sir Paul McCartney for the first time.
Starkey, 38, recently played with The Who and is regarded in some quarters as a better drummer than his father. He is the third musician to take the revolving drum-stool with Oasis. He is rehearsing with the group, who are recording a new album but will play no new material at their Glastonbury comeback show.
Singer Noel Gallagher has played drums on the band's new album following the removal of Alan White after seven years. First drummer Tony McCarroll was fired and secured a $1.5 million out-of-court settlement.
Several of the Beatles' offspring have found the lure of the music industry hard to resist. Sean and Julian Lennon pursued solo careers.
Dhani Harrison, George's son, played guitar at the Royal Albert Hall tribute concert for his father. But Stella McCartney always targeted a career in fashion.
Noel Gallagher - whose guitarist brother Liam named his own son Lennon - told BBC 6Music: "Zak's first gig will be to 150,000 people. He's rehearsing all the Oasis songs now."

FreakyFlyBry: I second that. Absolutely no redeeming qualities about that "song". Just an annoying mess that goes nowhere.

JessieLou: Selena Gomez is so insanely overrated. No talent in her whatsoever.

tdc2000: That song's run shows me very clearly Mediabase (and Billboard) need a 52 week recurrent rule (with exceptions for obvious reboots like 1992's "BoRhap"). These old songs charting (and recharting) forever make a mockery of the idea of a "top 40" or Hot 100.

plannine: They should make the recurrent rule at 20 weeks. Even 5 months is 2 months too long on the charts.

FreakyFlyBry: The Naomi Striemer interview is going to be amazing! "Fall Behind" is a nice little song, I like how it's our best kept secret. Maybe more songs/artists will be like that in the future?
