It is well known that everybody in this little round thing we call earth have different opinions on things, and music is of course not an exception to that golden rule. Over the course of the past centuries many a person has spent a fine evening being in great company while listening to music, whether made by a make shift fiddle or just playing with spoons.
But just how has this industry gone from a simple pleasure into a business where some make enormous amounts of money the people they listen to will never even see in their entire lifetimes, while other hard working artists are left precious few chances and oppurtunities? I'll be examining things here, so take this as an opinion piece as opposed to a journalistic endeavor into an array which cannot be totally justified truthfully.
For as long as i can remember, music has had, in television, video games, cars and games, a part in my life, whether i was aware of it or not. No matter the way it was, it was always put on display, and from an early age i was subjected to the earlier material of music that had previously been recorded by great artists which had a great deal of integrity. From the Stone to the Beatles, passing by the Bee Gees, all these groups amongst many more great ones always worked their craft to the best of their ability and knowledge to deliver the greatness that today we call, "classics"
In today's industry, it seems far less about the quality of the product as opposed to the quantity it brings to them, and their vast bank accounts. The integrity that is required to be a real "classic" artist is barely if at all present in today's business... everyone tries to get in by cashing in off somebody elses name, covering a classic or just being a "featured" artist on a remix of an existing track, it makes no sense!
I will never shy away from admiting that i am a child of the 80's, the music from that era seems more appealing to me then the current music which is a bunch of drone repetitive similar sounding stuff... The music industry needs to get back to basics, hard working people that do music for fun, not only for the love of money...
