Corus owned 107.3 The Peak flipped formats today, from HotAC to Classic Rock as Q107. Corus also owns the hugely successful Q107 Toronto. Ratings never did materialize for the 2 year old HotAC station, it's previous incarnation (CHR Power107) was a market leader for several years.

it's previous incarnation (CHR Power107) was a market leader for several years. maybe that's a sign that POP was the way to go

They went from CHR to HotAC to try and lessen the impact of Vibe98.5 (Urban) that was set to launch later that year. Not a wise pre-emptive move. Perhaps they should have waited to see what the damage if any would be from Vibe instead of commiting anticipation suicide.
