Finally, the introduction of a guy named Classic Hits station backfires. Corus owned 96.3 Joe-FM Kingston replaced Country 96 just over a week ago and residents are fuming! Plans are underway to boycott the local Corus owned tv station. Already, Country outlets in the area including Q100 Belleville and Froggy 97 Watertown are reporting dramatic listener increases. For those keeping track, here is the updated guy named Classic Hits station list:
JACK-FM (Rogers): 103.1 Victoria 96.9 Vancouver 96.9 Calgary 92.3 Smiths Falls 105.9 Orillia 92.5 Toronto
BOB-FM (Chum): 99.9 Winnipeg 93.9 Ottawa 103.7 Brockville 102.3 London
DAVE-FM (Corus): 107.5 Kitchener
JOE-FM (Corus): 92.5 Edmonton 96.3 Kingston
Still waiting for Montreal to come aboard. Anyone for Jean-Guy FM?

There's only one Classic Hits station in Kingston right? Why is that station in Kitchener called DAVE-FM and not JOE-FM?

It's Corus' sad attempt to seem different from everyone else. Very silly when you think that they were the last player in the game to begin with.

Neither can I. That said though, Country radio listeners are probably the most loyal of any format. This is the first time the flip came from a hugely popular Country outlet.
Update: Q100 Belleville is changing formats promising "a new breeze" to listeners. I would love to be management at Froggy 97 right now.

Turns out Q100 Belleville remains Country under the new name Cool 100. Stupid to suspend music for 2 days and let all your listeners turn the dial to the competition.
