From Lesley Soldat, Soundsource Radio Network:
The Canadian HOT 20 will re-launch the week of July 19th with a new name and host. "Canadian Top 20" will feature MIX99.9 Toronto's Freeway Frank counting down the 20 biggest songs in Canada. New production elements promise to enhance the overall fine tuning job that will better reflect the changing tastes of the marketplace. No word yet on what the chart will be based on. Since Soundsource owns the rights to the Mediabase charts, the CHR or HotAC chart would be a safe bet. Also, Freeway Frank will be receiving a name change that reflects his "warm and energetic" personality.

Today was the first day that the new Hot 20 aired with Freeway Frank. Honestly, the production value does seem to have increased, and it sounds better than when Buzz Bishop hosted.
However, I'm not overly thrilled by the fact that it's still a HotAC format, but since that does seem to be bigger than CHR in Canada, so be it.

I didn't notice much difference, and so was somewhat disappointed. I didn't mind Buzz Bishop before, but Freeway Frank is good too.
I'm not liking the Hot AC version, since it's even more dull than the previous CHR version (with a Top 20, it's hard to be exciting). Well, I suppose if they steer it from Hot AC, I won't get to hear it since Z95 is now Hot AC.

That's too bad. I thought maybe they would make it a CHR countdown. Oh well. Do they use the Mediabase chart?
