Yeah for the 2nd time this year, a female solo artist tops my chart (the first being Corinne Bailey Rae with "Put Your Records On" in February). Lily Allen, much hyped MySpace girl and 21 yr/old singer-songwriter from the heart of London takes her debut single "Smile" 2-1 this week the same week that her CD release takes her flying 13-1 on the official UK chart.
Muse move up 2 to #2 knocking the "Monster" down to #3 after a strong run of 3 weeks up top.
Elsewhere Aussie electro group Rogue Traders make a 15-5 surge along with Editors, "Blood" which moves 12-7 and Snow Patrol's anthemic "Chasing Cars" which crashes 13-9 into the Top 10.
There are 8 new entries this week, headed by Canadian rock group Metric who are about to make it big in the UK. Second single "Monster Hospital" (released on July 24th) is heralded as NME's record of the week. ;D
