OK, I'll try re-kickstarting this forum with some comments about 4 songs on my chart that I think some of you might enjoy.
RUN - Naomi Striemer
Last year's pride and joy of the Globalchart with "Fall Behind" released a stunning debut self-titled Net-only CD. "Run" is slower and more languid, almost a mix of modern and Victorian in its charm. I know chartmakers have been eyeing "Let Me Go" as a follow-up to "Fall Behind", but don't overlook this little gem either.
DON'T DANCE CLOSE TO ME - soulDecision
This would be my third choice for a single from the band's second CD Shady Satin Drug. Actually, the CD is very good, a little short at around 40 minutes, but full of quality and good-natured fun. "Don't Dance" returns the band to the funky teasing of "Faded" and "Cadillac Dress". The original mix is good, but a few remixes wouldn't hurt either!
ALIEN - Mitchell Hunter
Mike B is right on with thinking that "Alien" could be a follow up to "They Might Say", which attracted interest from Globalchart contributors late last year. Hunter has a great way with words, and this song fits so well with themes of loneliness which are currently being addressed to the masses in songs like "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams".
SAD EYES - Liam Titcomb
This is a major label release in Canada (soulDecision's is an indie with distribution by EMI). Liam is the 18 year old son of Toronto folk singer Brent Titcomb. This song isn't a ballad, as you might expect from its title, but a rollicking little ditty with terrific singing, lyrics, and guitar playing. It's got overshadowed by bigger, bolder records, but when you put it in the mix it holds its own too.
If you're interested in any of these songs, you can send me a PM.
Now it's your turn...
