TEENAGE WRIST TIES FOR LONGEST REIGN OF 2023, EARN TOP DEBUT WITH NEW SONG
With a fifth week atop the Burner 50 with "Still Love", Teenage Wrist is now in company with the longest reigning #1s of 2023, tying for the honor with White Reaper's "Fog Machine", Linkin Park's "Lost" and the Foo Fighters' "Rescued" (though "Rescued" was the only one whose weeks at #1 were not earned consecutively). All eyes are now on whether "Still Love" can claim the honor for itself next week.
The Wrist also manage the week's top debut at #11 (the same entry position for "Still Love") with their latest single "Dark Sky", a collaboration with S.A. Martinez of 311, the long running alternative band who the Wrist opened for on tour last year. "Dark Sky" is the third charting entry from Still Love and the band's 16th entry; time will tell if it will become their 14th #1.
Fiddlehead advances 3-2 with "Sullenboy" on the strength of growing play, coming close to becoming the band's second #1. Heavenward back down 2-3 with former #1 "Gasoline", but also rebound 7-4 to a new peak with "Choke" as a result of its crossover strength (it's outpeaked "Gasoline" on the Globalchart). Joyce Manor's #2-peaking "NBTSA" rounds out the top 5 with a 4-5 drop. The Armed looks likely to get in next week with "Sport Of Form"; with a 10-6 move, it now becomes the Armed's highest charting entry and ties Julien Baker's best peak.
The Foo Fighters have the week's only new top 10 entry with "Show Me How"; their grungegaze experiment featuring backing vocals from Dave Grohl's daughter Violet makes a huge 23-10 jump this week.
Apart from the Wrist, Citizen - who co-dominated the Burner 50 with the Wrist in the first five months of 2021 - debut at #26 with "If You're Lonely", the lead single from the band's upcoming fifth studio album Calling The Dogs. The song marks a significant dropoff from the lead singles of their previous two albums; "Jet" from As You Please debuted at #10, "I Want To Kill You" from Life In Your Glass World was the chart's second ever #1 debut.
