TEENAGE WRIST EASILY HOLD #1 FOR SECOND WEEK; JOYCE MANOR, HEAVENWARD COMPETE AS STRONG HOLDOVERS
Helped by overwhelmingly strong play and continued early personal charts support, Teenage Wrist easily keep hold of the #1 spot on the Burner 50 for a second week with "Still Love". The Softcult collab appears likely to extend its lead into next, which would make it their longest reigning song since their previous collab, "Is It Really You?" with Loathe, which spent four weeks on top.
Right now, the Wrist's closest competitor is another Unkiecore artist with a resilient sleeper hit. Joyce Manor's "NBTSA" continues its impressive third wind rebound by landing a new peak with a 7-2 jump in its 17th week on the chart. "NBTSA" initially peaked at #5 in April, then went up and down for several weeks following its debut on Jessica's Top 40 (where it became the 40 Oz. To Fresno era's highest charting entry) and rallied strongly in recent weeks from a combination of consistently strong play, M4B Radio exposure during Jess's visit to Phoenix, the song's debut on the Globalchart, and recently revisiting the 40 Oz. To Fresno album. "NBTSA" now becomes Joyce Manor's third Burner 50 top 2 hit, following 2018's "Million Dollars To Kill Me" (seven weeks at #2) and last year's "Gotta Let It Go" (seven weeks at #1).
Teenage Wrist spinoff project Heavenward also remains a close competitor months into its run as "Gasoline" holds strong, also from consistently strong play and M4B support. The former #1 holds at #3 and was neck and neck with Joyce Manor for the runner-up spot this week.
Post-hardcore supergroup Fiddlehead scores their third top 10 and second highest charting entry with "Sullenboy" with an 11-7 move, likely to challenge the current top 3 in the coming weeks. Also new to the top 10 is up and coming Long Island punk band Family Dinner's "Revenge Dress", its title inspired by the revealing dress worn by the late Princess Diana following her divorce from Prince Charles; the song moves 15-10 after a steady climb. Militarie Gun is likely to get their fourth top 10 by next week with "Will Logic", up 19-11; the song is benefiting from the recent release of the band's widely acclaimed debut album Life Under The Gun.
Fireworks has the week's top debut with "Goodnight Tomb" at #35, helped by revisiting the Higher Lonely Power album in the leadup to seeing the band in concert in August. Following the album's surprise release in January, its opening songs "God Approved Insurance Plan" and "I Want To Start A Religion With You" reached #2 and #1, respectively. Also new this week is the Armed's "Sport Of Form" featuring Julien Baker at #36, the lead single from the hardcore band's upcoming new album Perfect Saviors; it follows 2021's Ultrapop, which had Burner 50 hits in album highlights "All Futures" (#9) and "An Iteration" (#16). (It's also indie singer-songwriter Baker's second charting appearance on a hardcore song, following an uncredited featured vocal appearance on Turnstile's #4-peaking "Underwater Boi".)
