FOO FIGHTERS REPLACE THEMSELVES AT #1 WITH "UNDER YOU"; TEENAGE WRIST CHALLENGE FOR 13TH #1
For a second week in a row, the Foo Fighters have the top 2 songs on the Burner 50, but this time the songs have reversed order. "Under You", the second pre-release single from But Here We Are, becomes the band's fourth Burner 50 #1 with a 2-1 move. "Under You" ends the reign of "Rescued" after five nonconsecutive weeks at #1, as "Under You" benefits from its close approach to #1 on the M4B Radio Top 40.
The Foo Fighters now rank as the artist with the fourth-biggest tally of #1 hits, trailing Basement and Pinkshift (tied for third with five #1s each), Citizen and Milk Teeth (tied for second with seven #1s each) and the band that could replace them next week with a record-extending 13th #1, Teenage Wrist.
They get an 11-3 lift in its second week with "Still Love", the third single and second Burner 50 entry from their upcoming third album of the same name. Benefiting from strong play, a much more positive reception than the previous two singles, and early personal chart support, "Still Love" could become the Wrist's 13th #1 and 10th consecutive #1 by next week. It also would finally give featured artists Softcult, who toured with the band on their Earth Is A Black Hole tour, a Burner 50 #1 to their name; Softcult came close to #1 with "Drain" in late December-early January, but was upset by Metallica's "Lux Æterna" and a second wind for Pinkshift's "Burn The Witch" and dropped out of the top 10 fast from backlash due to King Princessing.
Also new to the top 10 is Gouge Away's "Idealized", up 12-10 to mark a new peak for the Florida band; it's a dramatic improvement over their only other charting entry, 2018's "Ghost", which reached #45.
Garbage and Noel Gallagher's co-headlining tour leads to a bump for both artists this week. Garbage's cover of Siouxie and the Banshees' "Cities In Dust", recorded for their recent Record Store Day exclusive EP Witness To Your Love, gets a 31-17 lift following their performance of the song at their Phoenix concert on Sunday. (Seeing Garbage in 2021 co-headlining with Alanis Morissette also provided a post-concert bump to their then-current M4B hit "The Creeps", which peaked at #16.) And Gallagher debuts at #41 with "Open The Door, See What You Find", one of the four songs from his recently released album Council Skies performed at the concert.
JessieLou earns the week's top debut at #26 with "Found The Light", announced as the third single from her self-titled third album. Despite extending her breakout Globalchart and M4B Radio Top 40 success, the era has so far yet to bring a song to the Burner 50 top 10; previous singles "2Faced" and "C.W.M." respectively peaked at #11 and #16.
