TEENAGE WRIST BREAK, EXTEND #1 RECORDS WITH "HIGH AGAIN"
Backed by the release of an animated music video, bolstered by seeing the band in concert, and pushed to its highest point as the song extended the band's M4B crossover success, Teenage Wrist have hit #1 on this week's Burner 50 with "High Again", up 6-1 in its third week to extend several of the band's superlatives while breaking yet another record.
"High Again" marks Teenage Wrist's 11th #1, far and away the most #1s any one artist has achieved (The next most is seven, achieved by both Milk Teeth and Citizen), and is their seventh consecutive chart-topper. But perhaps most notably, the song is a record-breaking sixth #1 from Earth Is A Black Hole, besting the five #1s from Milk Teeth's 2020 self-titled album. "High Again" follows "Silverspoon" and "Earth Is A Black Hole" (2020) and "Taste Of Gasoline", "Yellowbelly" and "Wear U Down" (2021).
While the rest of the top 3 is relatively stable, with Greg Puciato holding #2 with "Never Wanted That" and Jerry Cantrell falling to #3 with "Had To Know" after spending the last two weeks at #1, the top 10 has a significant shakeup with four new entries, led by Pipa's surprise M4B crossover "(Got Me Feeling) Pipa" up 11-5. The song now marks Pipa's best charting solo entry, besting the #7 peak of "#endthefungus" in 2015. Pinkshift follows close behind with a 13-6 jump for "Nothing (In My Head)", which becomes the pop punk band's second top 10 hit following last year's #4-peaking "Mars". Propelled by heavy exposure in recent weeks including its speedy climb up the M4B Radio Top 40, a Kate Bush-themed The Book Club, and finally watching the first part of Stranger Things 4, Kate Bush moves 17-9 with "Running Up That Hill", becoming the oldest song to reach this mark on the Burner 50. And Camp Trash earn their first top 10 with "Pursuit" up 15-10.
Turnstile has the week's top debut with "New Heart Design" at #24, which becomes the seventh charting entry from their breakthrough album Glow On. Turnstile released a video for the album highlight to coincide with the announcement of a headlining tour with support from fellow Baltimore natives Snail Mail and JPEGMAFIA.
