JERRY CANTRELL LEADS FOR SECOND WEEK, FACES OFF AGAINST HIS BACKUP SINGER
Jerry Cantrell earns a second week at #1 on the Burner 50 with "Had To Know", the fourth official single and sixth charting entry from his album Brighten. But the singer who's served as his backup singer on the album's songs, and filled the role of Layne Staley when performing Alice In Chains songs at his concerts, is strongly challenging him for a #1 on his own name. Greg Puciato's "Never Wanted That" vaults 10-2, becoming his first top 5 hit as a credited artist and a serious #1 contender, outperforming his #6 Carpenter Brut collab "Imaginary Fire" and his #15 Reba Myers collab "Lowered".
Meanwhile, Teenage Wrist get a big second week boost with a 15-6 move for "High Again", also a likely #1 contender in the coming weeks given the band's enormously strong track record. And the Red Hot Chili Peppers extend their top 10 count to four as "These Are The Ways" moves 14-10. A number of fast growing songs are fighting to get into the top 10 next, including M4B's own Pipa with his surprise Globalchart smash "(Got Me Feeling) Pipa" (13-11), Pinkshift's "Nothing (In My Head)" (18-13) and the resurgent "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush (28-17).
Citizen frontman Mat Kerekes has the week's top debut with "Danger", the lead single from his upcoming solo album Nova, at #29. Kerekes worked on the album with drummer Daniel Fang, of fellow Unkiecore band and recent Citizen tourmates Turnstile.
