WEBBED WING HOLD #1 FOR THIRD WEEK; TURNSTILE VINYL PURCHASE IMPACTS CHART
Webbed Wing maintain a distant lead over the competition as "Dream Come True" matches the feat of their previous #1 "Make A Dime" to earn a third week at #1 on the Burner 50. "Dream Come True" holds a solid lead over Boston Manor's "Algorithm", taken from their recently released EP Desperate Times Desperate Pleasures, which advances 5-2 following strong play and moderate crossover attention; it's their fourth Burner 50 top 3 peaker and a significant recovery from the EP's lead track "Carbon Mono", which peaked at a dismal #21.
Besides Webbed Wing's continued dominance, the other big story of the week is the impact of purchasing Turnstile's hard to find vinyl of Glow On, which sparked a rebound for all three of the era's #1s. "Blackout", which spent one week on top in September, returns to the top 10 with a 12-7 jump. "Holiday", which led for three weeks in July, is back up 30-19. And lead single "Mystery", which looked like it would exit the chart last week, gets a 50-40 boost; that one became their first ever #1 in the early summer and topped for five weeks.
While Turnstile brings a former #1 back into the top 10, two new entries join in. Every Time I Die earn their second top 5 entry with "Thing With Feathers"; the Andy Hull-assisted song jumps 15-5 in its third week on the chart. And the buzzworthy Connecticut band Ovlov, whose sound recalls 90s indie music, jumps 14-9 with "Land Of Steve-O" to become their first top 10 hit and are fast climbing with a second song, "The Wishing Well", up 26-17. Both songs are their first Burner 50 entries; "Spright" from their previous album Tru, a 2018 album that followed a series of breakups, bubbled under but failed to chart.
Long Island emo band Envy On The Coast land the week's top debut at #36 with "Flash Bang", the lead song from their recently released three-song EP 3. It's their first new music since the 2017 EP Ritual, whose track "Virginia Girls" went as high as #10. Two spots below, Drug Church enters with "Million Miles Of Fun", the lead single from their upcoming album Hygiene. The band, scheduled to open for Burner 50 favorites Citizen on tour next month, strongly benefited from joining the billing when "Tawny", the title song from an EP they released earlier this year, peaked at #4 and became one of the chart's biggest hits of 2021.
