[ 2021 edition ] So earlier in the year I revised all my decade (60s-00s) and all-time top 50s and put together countdown videos for them, so thought I'd share what my refreshed top 50s are here over the next few weeks. Obviously youtube doesn't like countdowns of other people's music so stuff it, here are stills from my 90s countdown video. TOP 50 SONGS OF THE 1990s

Wow! I was surprised to see more pop here than I thought I would Anyway, great songs, great list! I thought I was watching a Rage countdown. Well done on the editting! My God, the amount of times I danced at The Beat to "You're A Superstar" as though I was on another planet... good times. And Michael Bolton takes it out! Thanks for sharing.

I made the titles like Rage deliberately always loved how they didn't distract from the video. Also of note - the #43 song in my top 50, "She Said" by Lavish, was used for many years by Rage as the music in the top 50 whenever there wasn't a music video available for a song. Lavish were a great late 90s Brisbane band! See here from 2:10 onwards: www.youtube.com/watch?v=COuRGX4DN-Y

OMG the nostalgia! That's so interesting! I did not know it was a snippet from a Brizzy band, whom I hadn't heard of, so thanks for that bit of trivia And 'Bloke' so had a music video! Maybe Chris had to make one quickly when the parody took off? I do, however, remember Pearl Jam's "Last Kiss" never having a music video despite the song being at #1 so Rage ended suddenly after the #2, and I don't even think I knew how to hear the song unless it happened to be played on the radio, so that was frustrating. Living out in country Queensland I didn't have easy access to a record store or even a radio station that wasn't Triple J (which has never really been my thing) or ABC Radio and my dad listening to 'Macca on a Sunday morning" (so that didn't get much further than Slim Dusty or The Seekers in terms of musical entertainment) , so thank the LORD for 'Rage' and getting up at 5am to watch it... oh and sometimes 'Video Hits' but even that got lame after a while.

Lavish actually had a song on the Hit Machine 24 compilation CD Which was wild to see at the time. It was a cover of "Homosapien" and was their biggest hit. See: www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3ZrHbikuE0I was exactly same the re: Last Kiss. It drove me mad that a song was #1 that I couldn't hear and it wasn't even played on radio much. I think I only heard it a couple of times on radio via the ARIA top 40 countdown that aired on B105 on Sundays (and was usually the week prior's chart ). And yeah they never played the Bloke video in the top 50, but I think that's because TV shows were required to be rated G from 6.00am onwards, so they made the whole top 50 G-rated as it often started around 6am.

Nice to see two great Faithless songs in the mix plus the inclusion of my fellow Canadians Love Inc. (I met singer Simone Denny several years ago and she's lovely).

I saw Simone Denny at Eaton Hills. She was SO good. I dislike when artists perform at that venue though ergh. It's also where I saw Cascada and one of the group-tours (B*Witched, S Club 7 3, Liberty X, Atomic Kitten and East 17) Oh I missed Hit Machine 24. Hit Machine 16 was my anthem and probably explains my music taste to this day
