There's a lot to dislike about 2020, but one of those things hasn't been the music released this year. For a year so remarkably bad, the music's been pretty darn good! All totaled 173 songs appeared on my personal chart during the calendar year. In this thread, I'll count down my Top 150 of those songs. Plus, I'll reveal six songs I wish I would've charted this year. Let's get it started! 150. Billie Eilish THEREFORE I AM 149. Harry Styles GOLDEN 148. Saweetie f/ Jhené Aiko BACK TO THE STREETS 147. 100. Dan + Shay I SHOULD PROBABLY GO TO BED
This Pop crossover from one of the most popular Country music acts of the past five years spent 15 weeks on my Top 50, two of those at its peak position of 18.
99. Sam Smith & Demi Lovato I'M READY
It's been a banner year for Sam Smith and Demi Lovato on my personal chart with several songs by each of them making appearances on the Top 50. More to come from these two on the year-end list, but "I'm Ready" spent 15 weeks on the chart, peaking at #17.
98. Katy Perry NEVER WORN WHITE
Earlier this year, Katy Perry released "Never Worn White" after it was announced that she'd become engaged to longtime partner, actor Orlando Bloom. The music video for the single served as a different kind of announcement: letting the world know she was expecting the couple's first child. The sentimental song tugged at my heartstrings, peaking at #20 on my Top 50 and logging a 17-week appearance.
97. Niall Horan NICE TO MEET YA
I liked this solo effort by one-fifth of the classic One Direction lineup well enough for it to land on my year-end chart at #97. It was already on the Top 50 when the calendar changed to 2020 and stayed on the chart into March.
96. Alesso featuring Liam Payne MIDNIGHT
Speaking of former One Direction members, Liam Payne provided vocals on this laid-back love song by EDM producer, Alesso. It did well on my Top 50 over the summer, spending 19 weeks on the chart and peaking at #17.

95. Tory Lanez featuring T-Pain JERRY SPRUNGER
You know you inspired a generation of younger artists when they start sampling your hits. That's the case here as "Jerry Sprunger" samples T-Pain's debut single, 2005's "I'm Sprung." And, with a shout-out to an infamous talk show host in your song's title, how can you go wrong? Though we're still waiting on that full-fledged comeback after winning the first season of The Masked Singer, guesting on this track was a nice start for T-Pain.
94. Katy Perry DAISIES
Another sweet song from Katy Perry that made its way onto my chart over the summer. It was on my Top 50 for 16 weeks and peaked at #13 for two weeks.
93. Usher BAD HABITS
This love song about forgiveness and learning from prior mistakes is still on my Top 50 chart. In fact, it might not yet have seen its peak. That means we might see it on the 2021 year end list, too. Not too shabby if I do say so myself!
92. Megan Thee Stallion GIRLS IN THE HOOD
One of several appearances by Megan Thee Stallion on my year-end list, this attitude-filled song gave my Top 50 a much-needed injection of sassiness in the fall months. It peaked at #14 for two weeks and spent 15 weeks on the chart.
91. Sam Smith TO DIE FOR
I can identify with this understated ballad about longing for someone special. While it wasn't Sam Smith's highest-charting song on my personal chart this year, I certainly don't think a 16-week run and a #16 peak is anything to scoff at.
More to come on my year-end chart reveal, including songs by the likes of Lizzo, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, DaBaby, Zedd, and more!

90. Wale featuring Bryson Tiller LOVE...HER FAULT
When the fact that many of the Hip-Hop and R&B songs released this year were in the "trap" style (perjoratively referred-to by some as "mumble rap") became overwhelming, it was nice to hear the type of Rap song I'd grown accustomed to hearing prior to the late 2010s. This cool tune peaked at #15 during its 17 week stay on my personal chart.
89. Justin Bieber LONELY
This haunting and sad tune produced by hitmaker Benny Blanco always puts me in my feelings when I hear it. True, I wasn't a huge worldwide Pop star by the time I hit my teenage years. But, I think the emotions evoked by the song are certainly relatable to most of us even if the life Justin Bieber's led isn't. I'm not sure we've ever seen him so vulnerable and exposed. "Lonely" is currently on the Top 50 and working its way toward an eventual peak position...if it's not already there.
88. Pink Sweats 17
Many might refer to Pink Sweats' style as Alternative R&B. "17," which sounded like more of a Pop ballad than a love slow jam, really resonated with me in the middle of the year. It had one heck of a roller coaster ride of a 21-week stretch on my Top 50, moving up, dropping down, and then moving up the chart again before ultimately peaking at #16.
87. Lizzo CUZ I LOVE YOU
If anyone thought Lizzo could only sing a fun, breezy, uptepo song and rap, this final single release of 2020 proved that she could tear the roof off of any building with the sound of her voice. During a 17-week appearance on my Top 50, it managed a respectable peak position of #17. And, she had so much fun there that she decided to stay for a second week in a row!
86. Monsta X YOU CAN'T HOLD MY HEART
Proving that BTS wasn't the only group to corner the market on K-Pop acts finding love with American audiences (if not major industry chart love), Monsta X had a nice run on my chart earlier this year with "You Can't Hold My Heart," spending 18 weeks there in late winter into spring. It reached a peak position of 14.

85. Zedd featuring Kehlani GOOD THINGWhy does everyone always have to be in a relationship?! And, if you're not in one, everyone wants to think that you must be sad, lonely, and desperate to find that special someone. Zedd and Kehlani were out to prove the stereotype wrong with their gem of a Pop song from late 2019 that didn't get the kind of mainstream love it should have gotten. Although it started its run on my chart last year, it stuck around into the spring and peaked at #11 along the way. 84. DaBaby featuring Young Thug BLINDCarrying his Rap genre popularity from 2019 over into 2020 and managing to find some mainstream love, DaBaby appeared on my chart several times this year. In fact, you'll see more from him later on on the year-end list. However, "Blind" might be the most meaningful of all of his entries. It takes a thoughtful look at his newfound fame through the lens of the Black Lives Matter movement and social unrest of the summer and fall. Although it's already reached its peak position of #9, it's still working its way down my personal chart at this very moment. 83. Kygo featuring Donna Summer HOT STUFFHis 2019 reworking of Whitney Houston's 1990 cover of "Higher Love" was such a worldwide success, it only made sense that Norwegian DJ, Kygo, would seek-out other hits to give the same treatment. I have to be completely transparent and say that I don't find his take on Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" quite as engaging as "Higher Love." But, I do like it. In fact, it's still on my Top 50 chart waiting to see if it has reached its peak position or if it's going to continue to move upward. 82. Alicia Keys & Miguel SHOW ME LOVEIn 2019, Alicia Keys returned with her first new album in three years, "Show Me Love," a sexy duet with fellow R&B singer/songwriter, Miguel, was the first of those singles. Though it started its run on my chart in late 2019, it lasted on the Top 50 into early spring and peaked at #1, where it opened 2020 as the first #1 song of the year on my chart. 81. Travis Scott featuring Young Thug & M.I.A. FRANCHISEAfter spending two weeks at its peak position of #8 just a few short weeks ago, the catchy-as-hell latest single by Travis Scott is still working its way down my personal chart. What a cool song to close out 2020 with, though! More songs on the way on my Top 150 of 2020 include an entry by Lady Gaga, double appearances by both Demi Lovato and Khalid, and a song that gained popularity via TikTok with a little help from...sunglasses and a banana?! No. Not a dancing banana. Just a regular one.

Great to see Niall Horan, Katy Perry, and Kygo/Donna Summer on your list!
From below the top 100 I like these: 149. Harry Styles GOLDEN 140. Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande RAIN ON ME 132. Post Malone CIRCLES 108. Lizzo GOOD AS HELL
Also the dancing banana is still legendary and iconic.

80. Zara Larsson WOW
This former Eurovision Song Contest winner hasn't found the level of success in the U.S. that she has garnered internationally. But, her latest single is pretty seductive. In fact, it's quite a change from the mostly bubbly and breezy fare that I've heard from her over the years. It's still on my Top 50, but it has already reached its peak position of #16.
79. Alicia Keys & Khalid SO DONE
Another song that's still on the Top 50, this laid back and understated duet by Alicia Keys and Khalid was a late-in-the-year highlight for me. Unless it begins rising again, it's already reached its peak position of #12 on the Top 50.
78. Maroon 5 MEMORIES
This sentimental one-off single by Maroon 5 was cool enough to get anyone in that nostalgic mood to think about their past and the people that they used to know in earlier years. It debuted on my chart in the latter part of 2019, but spent enough time on the Top 50 in 2020 to rate an appearance at #78 on the year-end list!
77. Lady Gaga STUPID LOVE
New music from Lady Gaga was one of the most highly-anticipated things of 2020. "Stupid Love" was the first single release from that album. It peaked at #9 on my chart and put in a 17-week appearance. That's really all I have to say about that...
76. Khalid KNOW YOUR WORTH
"Know Your Worth," produced by U.K.-based production duo Disclosure, is a definite must-listen for anyone who needs words of encouragement about not giving up and not letting anyone tell you that you'll never accomplish your dreams. I was listening earlier this year, as evidenced by its peak at #13 during a 19-week stay on the Top 50.

75. Ed Sheeran & Ella Mai PUT IT ALL ON ME
Ed Sheeran was omnipresent in 2019 thanks to the many hit singles from his No. 6 Collaborations Project album. The final single from that project, "Put It All On Me," which was a duet with new R&B singer/songwriter, Ella Mai, didn't garner much notice on the industry chartsin the U.S., but I was into it. It first showed up in my Top 50 on the very first chart of 2020, hanging around for 19 weeks and peaking at #12 in the process.
74. Marshmello featuring Demi Lovato OK NOT TO BE OK
In this day and age, I think people are expected to always be in a good mood or at least appear as if they're in a good mood. As mentioned earlier in this thread, there was a lot about 2020 to put even someone with the sunniest of dispositions in a bad mood. This cool single from Marshmello made it okay to have an "Eeyore" moment every once in a while, with the understanding that things are going to get better eventually. While it's still on my Top 50, it peaked a few weeks ago at #12.
73. Adam Lambert SUPERPOWER
This dancefloor-ready jam by former American Idol contestant, Adam Lambert, first appeared on my chart in late 2019. However, it spent two weeks in its peak position of #13 and lasted on the Top 50 into late spring.
72. Demi Lovato I LOVE ME
When you're trying to be yourself and be happy with who you are, isn't there always a hater lurking around the corner, waiting to bring you down? I was totally into the message of this Demi Lovato single from spring 2020. In fact, I was so into it that it was on the Top 50 for 19 weeks and peaked inside the Top 10 with a two-week stint at #9.
71. Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber 10,000 HOURS
You may or may not have found the teaming-up of Country music duo, Dan + Shay, and Pop superstar, Justin Bieber, to be an unlikely collaboration. But there's no questioning that the outcome was excellent. While "10,000 Hours" might have been a little more laid-back of a song than we're used to hearing from Justin Bieber, it somehow felt like the perfect direction for him to go in. The song first entered my chart in 2019, but it reached its peak of #6 in late January and remained on the Top 50 into late spring.
One the way as my year-end review continues are songs by Halsey, Robin Thicke, and more. Plus, a song that is almost guaranteed to get Jessica excited, as well as another song that - although I liked it at the time I charted it - I have to confess that, by the time it fell of my Top 50, I no longer cared for it.

70. Saweetie TAP IN
Over the past few years, female rapper, Saweetie, has gained some popularity in the Hip-Hop genre. The Southern Rap stylings of "Tap In" provided much-needed variety in a year dominated by the Trap rap sound. It found itself on my chart in the fall for 19 weeks and peaked at #12.
69. Conakarah featuring Shaggy BANANA
"Banana" by Jamaican Reggae artist, Conkarah, which was a reworking and adaptation of sorts of Harry Belafonte's mid-1950s hit "Day-O (Banana Boat)," was first released in 2019. However, after its use in a TikTok challenge in the spring of 2020, it gained wider exposure. That's when I first learned of the song and I'm glad I did. This catchy little number had me hooked and dancing along all summer and into the fall. It peaked at #9 during a 20 week appearance on the Top 50.
68. Jonas Brothers featuring Karol G X
This catchy and uptempo number from the Jonas Brothers made a mark on my Top 50 chart this past summer. It spent 19 weeks there and peaked at #12 for two weeks.
67. Halsey YOU SHOULD BE SAD
Was this breakup song was actually directed at Halsey's former boyfriend, rapper G-Eazy? It was obviously written to make all of us think it was. Whether it was a sassy kiss-of to him or not, I liked it. Its run on my chart spanned 19 weeks and garnered a peak position of #8.
66. Blackbear HOT GIRL BUMMER
Megan Thee Stallion may have seen to it that 2019 was the year of the Hot Girl Summer, but if that was true, then Blackbear made 2020 the year of the Hot Girl Bummer. Or maybe 2020 was just a bummer altogether. Anyway, I'm not sure if "Hot Girl Bummer" is a true answer song to "Hot Girl Summer" or if it was just a play on the title. Either way, I was into Blackbear's song. In late winter, it reached a peak position of #8 and stayed on my chart into mid-spring after first showing up on my Top 50 in late 2019.

65. Sam Smith DIAMONDS
Well, well, well... Wasn't Sam Smith quite the prolific hitmaker in 2020? Yet another track from the British singer/songwriter makes an appearance on the year-end chart. "Diamonds" is still on my Top 50 and has just recently started to drop down the weekly list after reaching a peak of #3 just three weeks ago. I'm sensing an appearance on the 2021 year-end list may be in the offing. We'll see...
64. Rod Wave featuring Lil' Durk HEART ON ICE
I ended up catching onto this R&B song after it had already been on the charts for several weeks. It's not often that you get this type of introspective Contemporary R&B song from a male vocalist. (Paraphrasing) "I've been hurt so many times that I'm going to put my heart on ice" is quite a change from the perspective male R&B artists tend to put forth on breakup songs. I was into it! "Heart On Ice" spent two weeks in its peak position of #12 and was on my chart for 19 weeks.
63. Benee featuring Gus Dapperton SUPALONELY
I'm not sure many other songs so perfectly captured how many of us were feeling during the spring and summer months of 2020. Maybe that's why it ended up being so popular. I will freely admit to being incredibly sick of this song by the time it fell off of my chart this summer. But, before I became tired of it, it spent 19 weeks on my Top 50 and peaked at #7.
62. Robin Thicke WHEN YOU LOVE SOMEBODY
One of the great things about The Masked Singer - besides getting to see celebrities sing wearing oversized and sometimes scary-looking costumes - has been that it has led to new music from panelist, Robin Thicke. His latest album spawned two Top 50 hits for me. The second of those, "When You Love Somebody," started on my chart in late 2019. But, in 2020, it reached its peak of #2 (where it stayed for two weeks) and was on the chart well into the springtime.
61. DJ Khaled featuring Drake POPSTAR
"Popstar" was a big hit for me in 2020. It spent 20 weeks on my chart in late summer and into the fall and hung on to its #9 peak for three weeks.
Still to come on Jason's Top 150 of 2020: more Justin Bieber, more Drake, a song that tried to put a positive spin on quarantine, a song that mystified me when I first heard it in a TV commercial in November/December 2019 but became one of my favorites in the first half of 2020, and much more!

60. PartyNextDoor featuring Rihanna BELIEVE IT
It's been a few years since Rihanna has released any new music. If rumors are to be believed, we may be getting a new album from her as soon as sometime in 2021. However, those who were desperate to hear RiRi's voice on a song were blessed with her apperance on "Believe It," by Canadian singer and rapper, PartyNextDoor. It lasted on my chart for 20 weeks and peaked at #5.
59. Mahalia & Ella Mai WHAT YOU DID
Another artist who we were in short supply of new music from in 2020 (at least until November) was R&B singer/songwriter, Ella Mai. After she took the industry by storm in 2018 and 2019, we were anxious for new music. Luckily, she teamed up with fellow U.K.-based Soul artist, Mahalia, for a heartbreaker of a breakup song. It started on my chart in late 2019. However, it had enough of a run into 2020 that allowed it to place at #59 on the year-end list, That run on my weekly Top 50 chart included a peak at #3 for two weeks in late January 2020.
58. Harry Styles WATERMELON SUGAR
Marking yet another appearance by a former One Direction member, "Watermelon Sugar" was the second U.S. single from Harry Styles' latest album. Over the summer and into the fall, it was on my chart for 21 weeks and reached a peak of #8, where it stayed for three weeks in a row.
57. Justin Bieber featuring Chance The Rapper HOLY
One of two Justin Bieber singles currently on my Top 50, "Holy" has managed to chart as high as #2. Will it move on to a peak of #1 in 2021? We'll see about that. For now, it has performed well enough to rank at #57 on the year-end chart.
56. Sam Smith I FEEL LOVE
Those of you who follow my personal chart regularly know that I first discovered this song in late 2019 by way of a TV ad campaign for a department store, first mistaking the VERY faithful cover as the original Donna Summer composition until I recognized the voice as that of Sam Smith. I definitely felt love for this song well into 2020, resulting in a peak position of #7 on my Top 50.

55. The Weeknd IN YOUR EYES
Prepare yourselves! This is certainly not the last you'll see on the year-end chart of one of my favorite artists of the past six or seven years. "In Your Eyes" spent 21 weeks on my chart over the spring and summer and locked-in a peak of #5 on the Top 50.
54. BTS DYNAMITE
For the better part of the last several years, K-Pop sensation, BTS, has been trying to gain chart domination in the U.S. While many of their previous singles have garnered them a lot of attention and appealed to some U.S. audiences, a hit on the industry charts that monitor radio airplay has remained elusive...until late 2020. "Dynamite" got almost everyone's attention, including me. It's still on my chart, dropping down after reaching a peak position of #5.
53. Lil' Baby THE BIGGER PICTURE
Whatever anyone's personal reaction to the civil rights protests in the U.S. over the spring and summer, one can hardly argue that they had a profound effect on some of the music that was made. One such song that was easily inspired by the movement was "The Bigger Picture," which chronicles the conflicting feelings and inner struggles faced by Lil' Baby on a personal level. I liked this song a lot. It peaked at #7 and spent 22 weeks on my chart.
52. Drake TOOSIE SLIDE
Although the lyrics make it sound as if Drake is talking about the moonwalk on "Toosie Slide," the story goes that it was supposedly Inspired by an impromptu dance done by social media influencer, Toosie, while he was in the studio with Drake. Whatever the truth is, the song turned out to be just the type of feel-good and fun song many of us didn't know we needed during the spring and summer. I know *I* needed it. It lasted on my chart for 21 weeks and reached a peak of #4.
51. Justin Bieber YUMMY
Contrary to a belief I've come to learn was held by some, I truly did like this song, which was released in very early 2020. Yes, it's a little repetitive and the lyrics are a little inane, but that didn't matter to me. Its appearance on my chart - for 21 weeks with a peak at #6 - was for no other reason than why anyone else charts a song: because I liked it.
Up next on the year-end countdown, a story of two very different songs with the same title. One, you'll see very shortly. The other, you'll see much later on. Plus, songs by The Black Eyed Peas, Calvin Harris, a couple entries by Dua Lipa, and a perfect song for those of us who always seem to be "in a mood."

50. Meghan Trainor featuring Nicki Minaj NICE TO MEET YA
This fun entry from Meghan Trainor, who hasn't put out much new music in the past couple years, got my attention earlier this year. It spent 24 weeks on my chart and nabbed two weeks in its peak position of #7.
49. New Kids On The Block, Boyz II Men, Big Freedia, Naughty By Nature, & Jordin Sparks HOUSE PARTY
Inspired by the Great Qurantine of 2020, Donnie Wahlberg has said in interviews that when he conceived of the song and got the other group members on board with recording it, they decided they wanted to recruit other musical acts to be on it that they'd become friends with, rather than just asking random people to jump on the record. So, yeah... "House Party" was definitely a family affair. It ended up peaking at #7 during its 22-week appearance on my chart.
48. Diplo featuring Morgan Wallen & Julia Michaels HEARTLESS
In 2019 and into 2020, producer Diplo dipped his toe into the Country genre for his "Thomas Wesley" project. The original version of "Heartless" just featured Country singer, Morgan Wallen, on vocals. However, when the time came to release it as a single, Julia Michaels was recruited to add her voice to it. The song first appeared on my chart over the summer and stayed on for 22 weeks. It peaked at #5.
47. Blackbear ME & UR GHOST
"Me & Ur Ghost" was not an official single release by Blackbear in the U.S., but I ended up hearing it and enjoying it enough to put it on my Top 50. It just recently fell off of the Top 50 after a 25-week run, peaking at #8.
46. Calvin Harris featuring The Weeknd OVER NOW
"Over Now" is still on my Top 50 after debuting at the end of summer. The retro-sounding track - which, to me, kind of has the feel of an early 80s R&B song - peaked at #5 where it spent two weeks before starting its descent a few weeks ago.

45. Dua Lipa DON'T STOP NOW
Arguably the one of the most popular female artists in Pop music right now this sassy kiss-off song served as the lead single from Dua Lipa's latest album. It started its run on my chart in late 2019, but peaked at #2 - where it spent two weeks - in early February.
44. JoJo MAN
It feels like we've all watched JoJo grow up right before our eyes. When she first hit it big in 2004 with her debut single, "Leave (Get Out)," she was just a teenager. And, although she's continued to record and release music over the years, her last real taste of industry chart success came in 2007. "Man," was definitely a mature-soudning record for her...and it should be. She's around 30 now. It was on my chart for 23 weeks and hit a peak of #2.
43. The Black Eyed Peas featuring Ozuna & J. Rey Soul MAMACITA
Following the success of "Ritmo (Bad Boys For Life)" (spoiler alert: you'll see it on the year-end chart a little bit later on), The Black Eyed Peas released a batch of similar sounding singles. "Mamacita" was the direct follow-up to "Ritmo" and peaked on my chart at #4 for two weeks while appearing for a total of 21 weeks.
42. The Chicks GASLIGHTER
Despite a much-needed name change shortly after the release of "Gaslighter," (they did theirs the right way, seeking permission from the group who had most recently been using the name) The Chicks kept on making great music. The song was supposedly about the nasty and bitter end of the marriage of lead singer, Natalie Maines, to actor, Adrian Pasdar. It was on the Top 50 for 23 weeks, during which time it spent two weeks in its peak position of #4.
41. Dua Lipa featuring Madonna & Missy Elliott (or DaBaby) LEVITATING
Of the songs released as commercial singles in the U.S. from Dua Lipa's latest album, "Levitating" is my favorite. There's just something about it. No matter what mood I'm in or what I'm doing when it comes on, I can't help but get a smile on my face and start clapping along (you know the parts of the song I'm talking about). Right now, it's spending its fourth week in the #1 spot on my personal chart. Might that mean we'll see it on the year end chart for 2021 too? Possibly...
Next up on the year-end list: Miley Cyrus, Trevor Daniel, another appearance by Drake, a Rap song that crossed from the Pop genre to the R&B/Hip-Hop genre charts. Wait. What?!?! All of that and more to come!
