Yes, we're almost at edition #200, and my Top 300 1998-2004 Guessing Game will continue in the Personal Charts Discussion forum. We at the Top 40, so check it out when I post a new thread with the latest round!
Certainly as we approach #200, the chart is looking very busy. Jason Mraz's "Wordplay" triumphs this week, soaring 8-1. This song is only partially modest about the singer - he also has a great voice and is terrific in concert.
The Pussycat Dolls land in the Top 5 - but for how long given the competition below? Three new Top 10 entries come from Sean Paul (I have no idea what CD "Keeping You Warm" will be from, but it may only be a download track right now), Robbie Rivera - with the fastest riser, the frenetic "One Eye Shut" at #9 - and Low Millions' creepy-but-intriguing "Diary". You can also expect Jully Black's "Sweat Of Your Brow" to land in the Top 10 soon.
There are four debuts this week which have caught my ear over the last few weeks, and a bunch more bubbling under. Check out the full chart using the link under my signature, and feel free to post any comments! Thanks!
NEW TO THE CHART:
ALL THESE THINGS THAT I'VE DONE - The Killers
Another extremely catchy song from the Hot Fuss CD. I know I missed "Smile Like You Mean It", but this one might do the best on my chart yet. "Somebody Told Me" got to #12, while "Mr. Brightside" topped out at #16.
DA MVP - Mary J. Blige featuring The Game
What a terrific reworking of "Hate It Or Love It", a song by The Game f/ 50 Cent that came close to making the Top 30. Mary's turned this one into a bittersweet autobiography and it's well worth the repeated listens.
PON DE REPLAY - Rihanna
I just love fun songs for the summer, so "Pon De Replay" joins "Don't Cha" and "Keeping You Warm" in this category.
SLOW DOWN - Bobby Valentino
This new singer has a fine, fine voice, and this lilting ballad is a perfect companion piece to a song like Mario's "Let Me Love You". Every summer needs a late night quiet storm, and this one fills the bill!
