After all the hoopla over Rob Thomas being #1 on the Globalchart for 6 weeks (he conceded to Kelly Clarkson last week), "Lonely No More" gets to the top of my personal chart in its 7th appearance! In fact, the Top 8 of the chart are so tight - the 2-6 drop of "Collide" by Howie Day is simply caught up among all the good songs - that anything could happen in two weeks!
The biggest moves this week come from two great new tunes, "The Geeks Get The Girls" by American Hi-Fi and "Counting Headlights" by Liam Titcomb. And there are four terrific debuts to whet your appetite if you haven't heard them yet:
NEW TO THE CHART
DON'T CHA - Pussycat Dolls f/ Busta Rhymes
If I have a guilty pleasure in music this year, it's for this sly tune, which owes way too much to early 70's R&B grooves to ignore. Busta's rap fleshes the song out.
HOW LOVE SHOULD BE - Tyler Hilton
It's growing on me gradually... it's probably Ty's most commercial offering yet, and with his active touring in the U.S. it should become a bigger hit than "When It Comes". We in Canada however are still awaiting his CD's release, so hopefully this song will spark that release.
SHE'S NO YOU - Jesse McCartney
"Beautiful Soul" took a little while for me to catch on, but I liked "She's No You" instantly. It's a great summer song.
WORDPLAY - Jason Mraz
Mr. A-Z is back with an extremely strong follow up to "The Remedy". This song is an example of what he does best, and if you have an opportunity to see him in concert you'll see how much fun he has with his audience. He's opening for Alanis Morissette on her tour, but I would bet in the Fall he'll have one all to himself.
Since I'll be away on the weekend of May 28-29, my next chart won't be posted until the Monday or Tuesday following.
