Okay I lied, The Cranberries have two songs in the next set AFTER this, not this one.
120. Jefferson Airplane – “Greasy Heart” (1968)
Like most of the queen of music's discography, I first discovered this in 2013, and it instantly became one of my favorite Airplane songs and one of my favorite Grace songs ever. Dude, this is SUCH a badass song and the hard rock sound of this paired with her iconic and flaw-free voice, it's just... KLDGR;SKDTKJLFD. Yes, I can't think of a better way to explain it. Grace is just too f*cking amazing and I love her and she's awesome. If we're exclusively talking about Jefferson Airplane and not the Starship era, they have two songs left.
119. Oasis – “Don’t Look Back In Anger” (1996)
I first discovered this in 2005 like pretty much all their songs up to that point. I always loved this, and this to me is one of their most Beatles-sounding songs ever. Oasis not only have eight songs left, but they're ALL in the top 100!
118. Phil Collins – “Another Day In Paradise” (1989)
Like pretty much all his big hits, I heard this on the radio ALL THE TIME when I was a kid. He has so many great songs, but this one is definitely my favorite. Hoping he does this live when I see him in October!
117. Madonna – “Like A Prayer” (1989)
This was one of the first songs of hers I ever heard, and although the music video freaked me out as a kid (especially the part where her hands started bleeding, I always covered my eyes during that part ), this was always a favorite of mine in her catalogue and like many of her 80's and 90's hits, takes me back to my childhood. I also think this might be one of the closest things she has to a rock song, especially with Prince on guitar. All those years of making fun of him and then we find out he played guitar on a song I've loved ever since I was 5. Madonna has two more songs still to come, including...
116. Madonna – “Take A Bow” (1994)
To be honest, a lot of what I just said about "Like A Prayer" would also apply to this, except the parts about Prince playing guitar and her bleeding in the video. Over the years, aside from 2004 when I went through that infamous phase with her 1993 single "Bad Girl", I always kept switching between this and "Frozen" as my favorite Madonna song. This was another one of the first songs of hers I ever heard and I loved the 90's R&B sound - something Babyface, the song's producer, was very good at. We also found out over a decade later that he was good at producing Fall Out Boy songs. As I've gotten older, I've also started appreciating the lyrics, as I can relate to being in love with someone who totally takes advantage of you. The video for this is one of my favorites from her too, probably her most gorgeous video look in my opinion.
115. Derek & The Dominos – “Layla” (1972)
I know I've heard this before as a kid, but I didn't really start appreciating it until around 2013 when I started getting into 70's music. One of my favorite 70's songs and my favorite Clapton song ever - so kick ass!
114. Pearl Jam – “Not For You” (1995)
I always loved this song ever since I first discovered it around 2005-2006, and it was a favorite of mine in their discography, but like "Angry Chair", I have really grown to love this more within the last few years. It's just such a badass song. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.
113. Aerosmith – “Cryin’” (1993)
Although I didn't like a lot of rock music when I was little, Aerosmith were always a huge exception. I loved this song ever since I was a kid and the music video is one of my favorites ever. Aerosmith have two more songs still to come!
112. Letters To Cleo – “Here And Now” (1995)
This is actually a fairly recent discovery. I first heard about Letters To Cleo after seeing them on an episode of Parks And Recreation when I was binge watching it in 2015 with Unkie , and then about a month or two later I heard this on Pipa 's station QCIndie, and I just remember being like OMG what is this it's amazing. I'm still completely dumbfounded at how long it took me to discover this considering that I spent a huge part of my preteen/teen years discovering Hole, Garbage, The Cranberries, etc., but I mean better late than never? LTC have many great songs like "Big Star" and "Awake" and their cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams", but this is their only appearance on the list.
111. Tori Amos – “Cornflake Girl” (1994)
This was the second Tori Amos song I've ever heard - the first was "A Sorta Fairytale", which I heard when it was out in late 2002 - however, this was the first one that I liked upon first listen. I love "A Sorta Fairytale" now, but was very turned off by the video at the time. I mean, dude, her HEAD was on a SKATEBOARD!! Anyway , I first heard this in late 2004 around the time when Alanis Morissette was dominating my chart with her iconic smash, "Eight Easy Steps". Back when Musicmatch was actually a thing, I was listening to the Alanis Morissette station one day, which was a mix of Alanis and related artists. To be honest, I usually just skipped until either the next Alanis song or when I ran out of skips, usually the latter. This came on, and I gave it a curiosity spin as this was very shortly after @xfer revealed on here that Tori was his favorite artist, and I loved it. This is still one of her best songs to me and a 90's alt classic. Tori has one more song still to come!
