40. Black Sabbath – “Lonely Is The Word” (1980)This is my all-time favorite album track. As you all probably know by now looking at this thread , Heaven And Hell is one of my favorite albums of all-time, and I immediately fell in love with this song, the album's closing track, from the moment I first listened to this album. Dio, as usual, sounds amazing, and Tony Iommi's guitar solo at the end is one of the best guitar solos ever. Just an excellent ending to one of the best albums ever. 39. Oasis – “Don’t Go Away” (1997)An excellent ballad. I always considered this one of my favorite songs from them, and it has aged exceptionally well. Great song! 38. Soundgarden – “Black Hole Sun” (1994)I heard this for the first time in 2005, and I know I’ve said this 1,000 times already, but this had that really dark, heavy, angry sound that I was SO drawn into back then that it immediately became a favorite of mine and is still one of my favorites to this day, as you can tell here by the high placement. I was very shocked and sad about Chris Cornell's death last year and it was a major loss in the music world. May he rest in peace. 37. Foo Fighters – “Monkey Wrench” (1997)What a kick ass song! I first heard this in I wanna say very early 2006, and it quickly became one of my favorite songs of theirs. Really enjoyed hearing this one live as well! 36. Oasis – “Champagne Supernova” (1996)The story behind me discovering this one is actually kind of funny. I first heard it in late 2004, several months before I started getting into Oasis, because my countdown show on Variety FM was delayed by a few minutes because Jason was broadcasting right before my show was scheduled to air. What was his last song? This 7:28 long epic, which caused my show to start like five minutes later. I wasn't mad, in fact Unkie and I were joking about it and found it funny, but given how I feel about Oasis today and given this song's very high placement on this list, it's safe to say there are no hard feelings. An epic song with one of the best build ups ever, still love this just as much as I did back in 2005. WHERE WERE YOU WHILE WEEEEEEE WERE GETTIN' HIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 35. Temple Of The Dog – “Hunger Strike” (1991)This band consisted of members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden and was a tribute to Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone, who passed away a year before. I liked their other hit, "Say Hello 2 Heaven" a lot, but this was the one that always stood out for me. I mean, dude, Eddie Vedder singing with Chris Cornell - does it get any better than that?! Actually, according to this list, it DID get better 34 times, but meh, this is still an excellent song. 34. Nirvana – “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (1991)Somewhere in Dania Beach, Florida, a certain Courage is rolling his eyes at what he considers the most overrated song of all-time, which also just so happens to be my 34th favorite song of all-time! I can't remember if I discovered this on FreakyFlyBry's launch station or on one of Devyn's VFM broadcasts, but either way I know I discovered this one in mid to late 2005 and I loved it. Again, I know I'm sounding like a broken record at this point , but it had a very heavy and angry sound to it that I was SO INTO at that time - this was literally the polar opposite of my Madonna obsession from the year before. I even remember my Dad being shocked when I told him I liked this song. That was back when the idea of me liking rock music was shocking, now it's common f*cking knowledge. The video for this one is iconic as well. Excellent song, excellent album, excellent band, and it's a shame that they ended the way they did. 33. Alanis Morissette – “Joining You” (1998)I was an idiot and accidentally deleted my commentary for this! YAY! But basically, I heard this when I got the album and liked it, but it wasn't until late 2004 during the "Eight Easy Steps" reign of terror that I really got into this one. Love it and it's badass as hell! 32. Oasis – “Supersonic” (1994)One of the best debut singles ever! Great song, one of their best. 31. Nirvana – “Heart-Shaped Box” (1993)Now this one I definitely remember discovering through Devyn's VFM broadcasts. I heard this one for the first time very shortly after I first heard "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and I still remember my initial reaction to hearing this one for the first time. I thought it was so kick ass, and I remember practically forcing Devyn or FreakyFlyBry or SOMEONE to just SEND IT TO ME!! A 90's rock classic that has aged incredibly well. Excellent song! (I'm not revealing anything about the #30 song since to be honest I'm not sure what year to classify it as, I'll explain in the commentary for that song). 1992 (2) 1997 (3) 1998 (3) 1999 (1) 30. 29. Spice Girls 28. Hole 27. Guns N’ Roses 26. Goo Goo Dolls 25. Foo Fighters 24. Pearl Jam 23. Hole 22. Billie Myers 21. LeAnn Rimes

The Green Day song is overrated, No, just no to Hole, you should have put April Wine's version of Rock Myself to Sleep but the rest is great Frankie Valli & The 12 Seasons

30 must be Acquiesce then first a B-side in 1995 but a single and a huge #1 for you in 2006.

30. Oasis – “Acquiesce” (1995 / 1998 / 2006)I am not sure what year to classify this as because it was originally released as the B-Side to to their first UK #1 from 1995, “Some Might Say”. Then in 1998 it was on their B-Sides album, “The Masterplan” (which also featured the XFER’s Top 20 smash, “Rockin’ Chair” @xfer). I first heard it on my LAUNCH station back in 2005, and I LOVED it, and I was extremely happy and excited a year later in 2006 when it was released as a single from their greatest hits album, “Stop The Clocks”. It became their biggest hit on my chart, spending I believe six weeks at #1, and one of the biggest events ever on my chart. To this day, I consider it not only my second favorite Oasis song, for it’s typical Oasis sound with an anthemic chorus, but also my favorite song to make my chart - much to @wife’s dismay. 29. Spice Girls – “Say You’ll Be There” (1997)Come on, this is a 90’s classic! Everything about this is iconic. The video is one of my all time favorites, and both this song and video take me back to when I was four years old and Girl Power took over the world. 28. Hole – “Malibu” (1999)I THINK I may have heard this when it was out but I’m not 100% sure. As far as I know, I actually first heard this in 2004, a year before I started getting into Hole and Courtney, on, of all places, the infamous Radio@Netscape, and I loved it. This is very different for them, as it's easily their most radio friendly song, but it works SO well and I'll even go as far to say that this is my favorite song of 1999. Excellent song! 27. Guns N’ Roses – “November Rain” (1992)"Sweet Child O' Mine" was the song that made me like Guns N' Roses, but this was the song that made me LOVE them. I first heard this on Bebe Reptar's Back When Top 10 back in 2005 and absolutely loved it, and it's been a favorite of mine ever since. This is one of those long songs where it doesn't feel like it's 8 minutes because it's just THAT damn good. Slash's guitar solos on this song are epic, and not to mention the video for this is iconic. 26. Goo Goo Dolls – “Iris” (1998)The fact that this just turned 20 is incredibly depressing. I remember when this first debuted on the VH1 Top 10 Countdown!! I loved this song and video immediately and it was a huge favorite of mine in the late summer/early fall of 1998. I didn't listen to a lot of rock music back then, but the Goo Goo Dolls were an early favorite of mine in the genre. Although they've had many great songs over the years (and "Dizzy Up The Girl" is one of my favorite albums of the late 90's), I don't think they will ever top this one for me. Amazing song, a 90's classic! 25. Foo Fighters – “Everlong” (1997)This has been my favorite from them ever since I started getting into their music, which was around 2006. They have had so many great songs over the years and are one of the few bands today whose new music I actually really look forward to (I bought their last three albums very shortly after they were released), but this one still remains as my favorite from them. I loved this one on first listen and this was the song that truly made me a big fan of theirs. 24. Pearl Jam – “Jeremy” (1992)I started getting into Pearl Jam's music in late 2005/early 2006 thanks to LAUNCH, and from the moment I first heard this one, I became obsessed. As someone who has struggled with bullying (especially at the time I first discovered this song), I always appreciate when an artist raises awareness about it and does it well. It's not just that though, the song itself is 90's alternative rock at it's finest, it's such a kick ass song with - once again - an iconic video. 23. Hole – “Celebrity Skin” (1998)Okay, so perhaps the video for this one isn't as famous as the ones for "November Rain" or "Jeremy", but it's still a personal favorite of mine just for how fun and girly it is! As for the song itself, it's heavy, it's catchy, it's fun, and I was obsessed as f*ck with this in 2005-2006. This entire album is excellent and one of my all-time favorites, but this track remains as my favorite from them. 22. Billie Myers – “Kiss The Rain” (1998)When I first started watching VH1 in late 1997/early 1998, this was on regular rotation and was a very early favorite of mine during my childhood. Her debut album "Growing Pains" was even one of the first albums I ever owned. Listening to this song totally takes me back to that time and it sounds just as great as it did back then. What an incredibly underrated song. 21. LeAnn Rimes – “How Do I Live” (1997)Speaking of early childhood favorites, aside from the Spice Girls, it doesn't get earlier than this one. This was one of the first songs I ever loved. I heard this on WALK 97.5 all the time, and back then if I really liked a song I would sing along to it, and I ALWAYS sang along to this one. Like "Kiss The Rain", when I listen to this now it just takes me back to when I was 4-5 years old. Still an excellent song and by far my favorite in the country genre. Top 20 time! 1976 (1) 1980 (1) 1993 (1) 1997 (1) 1998 (1) 20. Rush 19. Alanis Morissette 18. Rainbow 17. The Wallflowers 16. Black Sabbath

Holy crap, long time between updates and now I got three sets to catch up on! "Basket Case" - One of a few Green Day songs I like! "I Think I'm Paranoid" - In my Top 5 Garbage songs My Top 5 would probz go something like this "Cherry Lips", "Androgyny", "When I Grow Up", "Push It", "I Think I'm Paranoid" LOVE "Bitch". I too was only 13 when this came out so I probz shouldn't have been singing it but meh I'm surprised this reached all the way to #45 for you! No to Oasis Like Green Day, Foo Fighters are another band that I only have a few likable songs from, and "Monkey Wrench" is one! Yes to "Joining You" No to (more) Oasis. "Say You'll Be There" was so poptastic it hurts. I even liked "Malibu" and Hole are a band I would normally skip over I liked "Celebrity Skin" too! I actually hate "November Rain" - it just never seems to end "Kiss The Rain" is an iconic sound for me. Loved it. As for "How Do I Live" - Trisha's version was WAY more popular here and got radio-play way more often. I understand that it was the opposite in the U.S, where LeAnn's version got more airplay. I enjoy both versions and always enjoyed Trisha's more, but over time, I've enjoyed LeAnn's just as much Meanwhile, LeAnn Rimes at #21 - who'da thunk it!? I'm hoping #17 is "One Headlight" - if so, it's my #108th favourite song of all time (as of June 2017)

I usually tend to dislike later Oasis songs, but Don't Go Away (a number one smash in my chart) and Champagne Supernova, are still amazing songs!

Could those last 10 songs get even more JessieLou? So many classics there, proof why the 90's were the best decade for music!

20. Rush – “Cold Fire” (1993)I started getting into Rush during the spring of 2008, however, I actually never heard this one until February 5, 2009 (I may sound like @wife here but this is not me having a great memory, this is me looking back at my Last.fm ). One thing that I really liked about Rush - especially at the time I got into them because I was incredibly bitter about love and boys - was that they never did any love songs, so how ironic that the ONE love song they did just so happens to be my favorite from them. Seriously though, this is an incredible song that never gets old for me. 19. Alanis Morissette – “Uninvited” (1998)I don't remember anything about the City Of Angels movie except that Nicholas Cage was in it, but I sure remember a lot about it's awesome soundtrack! My Mom got the CD right around the time "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls and "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan were becoming huge hits, and although I loved both of those songs, it was the other big hit from that soundtrack that stood out for me the most - this one. I became obsessed with this one during the summer of 1998 and has consistently remained as one of my favorite Alanis songs - and one of my favorite songs ever - since. Definitely one of the heaviest songs she's ever done and one of the earliest indicators of me becoming a future rockist (or, if you're Bebe Reptar, "rawk chick"). 18. Rainbow – “Stargazer” (1976)Now THIS one I remember the exact date I first heard it - October 20, 2008. This song was a huge part of my heavy metal phase from 2008-2011. I first heard it on Eddie Trunk’s XM show, which was also the first show of his I listened to in its entirety, beginning a tradition every Monday (and Friday with his terrestrial show on Q104.3 in NYC) that lasted until the late spring or early summer of 2011. For that past year when I was getting into metal, Ronnie James Dio, who sang vocals on this song, instantly became one of my favorites in the genre with his work in Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and his own band Dio. Like “November Rain”, this is one of those songs that to me does not feel like 8 minutes. Between Dio’s vocals and one of the best guitar solos ever from Ritchie Blackmore, this song quickly became a huge favorite of mine and even became a meme when I started requesting it on every single radio show I listened to and even getting it played on Eddie Trunk’s show on multiple occasions (including the weekend of my high school graduation). Just an excellent song that even after 10 years of shoving down people’s throats and overplaying, I’m STILL not sick of! 17. The Wallflowers – “One Headlight” (1997)You wanna talk about early indicators of me being a rockist? Here’s a huge example of that. This was one of the first songs I EVER loved when I first started getting into music and just like “Uninvited”, it has consistently been a major favorite of mine ever since. The fact that I can now say I’ve been listening to this song for over 20 years kind of freaks me out. But yeah, excellent song for sure! 16. Black Sabbath – “Heaven And Hell” (1980)I don't wanna go into too much detail about me getting into Dio since I kind of did when talking about "Stargazer" and he does have one more song left in the next set, but I first discovered this one a few months before I first heard "Stargazer" and was blown away. The first Sabbath song I ever heard was "Iron Man" in either late 2007 or very early 2008, and I liked it a lot, but from the moment I discovered this one, I started associating Black Sabbath more with Ronnie James Dio than Ozzy Osbourne. An absolutely epic, phenomenal title track to one of the greatest albums ever made. 1975 (1) 1983 (1) 1984 (1) 1995 (2) 15. Dio 14. Lita Ford 13. Vanessa Williams 12. Jefferson Starship 11. Alanis Morissette

One Headlight is by FAR my favourite out of that previous set. Just such an iconic sound for it's time, and for a bubblebum-pop-fiend like me, as a teenager in the 90's, liking a song like that was unheard of I liked "Uninvited" too but I was into her more popular songs. I think I know what 13 is
