Well it's been a heck of a week compiling the latest Tuned-On! chart. All of a sudden there are so many great songs out there, that it became extremely competitive for a song to land in the Top 30. So, two songs, U2's "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" and soulDecision's "Kiss The Walls" departed the chart somewhat prematurely and could re-enter in the coming weeks.
And - look at all those huge moves! Tyler's "The Letter Song" holds at #1 for a 4th chart (8 weeks!), but will yield in two weeks, to something new! It wasn't good enough that Robert Downey Jr's "Man Like Me" moves up 8, or that Rob Thomas' "Lonely No More" moves up 10, or that Howie Day's stunning "Collide" moves up 15 - "Eleanor" by Low Millions eclipsed them all by moving up 18, into the Top 10.
And still more! Five debuts! All of which could do very well in the coming weeks.
Last but not least, the Tuned-On! Top 30 will celebrate its 200th chart soon. So I'm compiling my Top 300 songs from Tuned-On! land 1998-2004, which will be published to coincide with that 200th edition.
Hope you have some comments ready for this not so ordinary chart! Use the link in my signature to see the full chart.
NEW TO THE CHART:
EXIT TO EXIT - Ryan Cabrera
All of a sudden, radio ears are tuning towards "40 Kinds Of Sadness", but "Exit To Exit" is the best track I've heard yet from CabreraDude, as he makes the highest debut of the week. What really catches my ear - for those of you old enough to remember - is the occasional similarity his voice has in this song to Michael Penn, best known for "No Myth" and "This And That" from 1990. Check out those songs if you don't know them!
KRAFTY - New Order
I haven't raved about one of my favourite bands of all time in a while, but this new single puts them right back in form and should become a Top 40 hit. And they're touring! I'll probably check them out, the last time I saw them was in 1993.
LEGEND - Nelly Furtado
A quieter jazzy track from "Folklore" that has caught my ear. Shows how diverse Nelly can be (but somehow I'm still waiting for that Nelly & Nelly duet).
WHERE NO ONE KNOWS ME - Jann Arden
Funny that Jann has yet to appear on a Tuned-On! chart since we began, but in the early to mid-90's made some of my favourite radio songs, like "Insensitive" and "I Would Die For You". This is her catchiest song in about 10 years from her upcoming self-titled CD - check it out!
YOU AND ME - Lifehouse
Lifehouse has made another sensitive-sounding little gem that sounds a lot better than some of the songs from their last CD Stanley Climbfall. Hope there's more to their new self-titled CD than the last one.
