This song set a certain pre-PPW longevity record on the R&R chart.
(It was not total weeks on chart, BTW)

Vanessa Williams - Save The Best For Last? This spent a long time at #2 after falling from #1, if I recall correctly.

Nope, but coincidentally, you have the correct artist.
(BTW, "Save The Best For Last" spent two weeks at #2 after dropping to #1).

Love Is? (slowest climb to reach #1) That is correct! (The Amy Grant song that it reminded me of, BTW, was "That's What Love Is For").

Well, we finally made it! After nearly four years of playing (with several long pauses, due to me becoming sidetracked), we have arrived at the #1 song on my Personal Top 30 charts! In a 25-year period, from January 1, 1975 through December 31, 1999, this song amassed more points than any other song.
First clue:
There were at least two versions of this song that received radio airplay.

Nope - no longer on the right track, for two reasons - one is that said two versions were by the same artist.

Good guess, but that song was back at #208.
The song is by a female artist, though.
