Welcome to the Hot 20 countdown. This countdown used to be called the New Music Countdown, but I changed the name because I thought this was a better name. We Have lots of tuff happening on this weeks chart. First and foremost, our former number one Sum 41's We're all to blame is moving off the countdown this weekend, this is important because they were the first number one to ever star my chart. Secondly we have last week’s number one falling 15 spots to number 16!! The biggest fall you will probably ever see. The song is Papa Roach with Getting away with murder
Snow Patrol debuts this weekend at the number 19 spot. This is the first time they have been on my chart. They debut with a song called "Run".
Jimmy Eat World fall from 9 to 18 with "Pain". However their new single work may debut soon on the hot 20 countdown.
Chevelle debut at number 17 with Vitamin R. The debuts this week are older but that’s ok, better late than never.
U2 climb up to number 15 with "All because of you" after it debuted at the number 19 spot last week. This is U2's second single from "How to dismantle an atomic bomb". They try to get a second number one single on the countdown. Speaking of that their first single "Vertigo" is dropping 3 spots to land at number 13 this weekend.
Jesse McCartney’s "Best day of my life" climbs one to land at number 14 on the countdown. This is his first chart hit.
Green Day stop their descent and climb up two to land at number 12 with "Boulevard of broken dreams". This is Green Day's first number one song and their second countdown song, the first "American Idiot" peaked at five awhile back.
Matthew Good is kicked out of the top 10 to land at song number eleven with "In love with a bad idea" falling seven spots with that song.
Switchfoot are this week’s highest climber as they climb from 16 to 10 with "Meant to live". This is Switchfoots first countdown song, can it reach number one? Stay tooned.
Bowling for Soup enters the top 10 at number 9 with 1985, their biggest song.
Good Charlotte climbs three spots to number eight with my fav. video of the moment "I just wanna live". If it can make it to number one it will be Good Charlotte’s third song to reach the number one spot. The first two, “Lifestyles of the rich and famous” and “Hold on” both spent one week each at the number one spot.
Ryan Cabrera moves up 5 spots to number 7 with “On the way down” and it looks as if Ryan will have his first number one on hot 20 within a few weeks.
Metric has three songs in the top ten right now. Two of them are in the top five. “Dead disco” Moves up two spots to land at number 6. “Succexy” moves two spot to reach number three. And “Combat baby” remains steady at number two. “Combat baby” currently has the title of most weeks in a row at number one. Can “Succexy” break this record? It is at position three after only four weeks on the countdown
Jet move ahead by three spots to land at number four with their latest “Look what you’ve done.”
The Number one song of the week is “Pieces” by Sum 41. They climb up from four to 1. This is their second number one song to hit this countdown. It left the top ten awhile back, but regained a foothold when the video came out. This makes it the third non consecutive weeks for this song at the top spot. Can they challenge Metric to the all time record of four? Find out next weekend in the J-Net Hot 20 countdown. Until then, have a good week.
