Am I out of line for saying this?

I'm sure JessieLou will think so. As for me, I find her music passable at best, but nothing extraordinary. She regularly charts for me, but has yet to reach the top 70 on my chart.

Yes. Unless you can state why you are saying that. And it had better be good!

She's okay but her material has been very samey for the most part and I initially loved Tennis Court and Royals but I got tired of them fairly quickly.

She's far from a master of music, but she's had several good songs; "Royals" made top 5 for me, and "Team" was #1 for 2 weeks.

she is talented and has some great music but she it too fresh to be called a master!!!
i guess it all depends on her next album if she will go down as a greatness in music from this decade, she has massive potential!!!

Tennis Court, Royals, and Team are 10/10 in my opinion. I really do think they're fantastic, all three were 2013 hits for me (Team and Tennis Court each hit #1 and were Top 10 for the year). But her album is overall lacking. These are the only 3 songs that have the trifecta: production, lyrics, and music. Those 3 songs have lyrical commonalities. So, she's going to have difficulty with consistency. Good luck to her, but I'm guessing her A-list status is a flash in the pan. She'll be B-list by the time her 3rd album comes out and her music distributors realize she lacks consistency.

I don't like her, but it's because of the snooty attitude she projects... coming off like a spoiled brat, so to speak. I read a quote from her wherein she bashed artists who give their fan base a nickname, cos she thinks that's lame. I don't see how giving your fans a nickname is lame. If anything it shows an extra layer of connectivity, if that makes sense. Maybe she was just jealous that her fan base didn't decide to call themselves The Disciples, or something like that?! Too her credit, possibly, is her young age. We all see that Bieber has gone down in flames, but Lorde does come across as immeasurably more intelligent than Bieber. If she takes her money and buys some charm lessons... and some awesome producers... and surrounds herself with yes-men (or yes-women) who guide her to a less snotty persona as she ages, then she may be in it for the long haul. But... I do remember "Call Me Maybe" a couple summers ago... and where is Carly Rae now? Granted, on Broadway (or is it off-Broadway?)... but not on the radio. Intense popularity out of the gate often leads to a downfall as rapid as the rise. Starland Vocal Band, best new artist grammy of 1976... Oh, dear...

Granted, on Broadway (or is it off-Broadway?)... but not on the radio. Wow, nearly identical to my sentiments. I was even thinking of Carly Rae when I was writing my response. Lorde needs excellent producers to avoid a depreciation to Carly Rae B-List or even C-List status. With that said, "industry" appreciates Broadway an awful lot. Perhaps this will give Carly some additional cred, something "Call Me Maybe" certainly failed to provide. But I don't see Lorde on Broadway...
