I can't believe Ryan Malcolm was nominated. I don't hate him, but weren't there more worthy candidates?
In some categories, it's almost as if they didn't have enough to choose from, and took whoever was submitted by default.
Who else was eligible for Best New Artist this year?
"Party for Two" for Single of the Year? What the heck?! Again, it's not that I hate the song, but it's not Shania Twain's best.
What were some glaring omissions this year? Is there a place to look up eligible submissions?

Yeah, disappointing nominations indeed. Celine Dion? uuhh..... ok? Bryan Adams? Not bad since he did keep his stuff in Canada. What annoys me most about the Junos I guess is that they often choose artists that have made it big outside of Canada for the main awards but I suppose those are the biggest hits anyway. I think they base the awards too much on radio/sales and not really enough on quality and stuff like that. Biggest omission for me was definately lack of Tegan and Sara in any of the nominations, like Best Alternative Album, perhaps.

The nomination criteria is getting harder to explain or justify as time goes on. Basically if the record company doesn't nominate you or your song or CD, you can't be considered.
I think this year's noms for the most part are blah. It should be Avril's year though in most categories.
