If "Seether" by Seether should make the Hot 100, I believe it will be the first time in 26 years that a song titled after the very artist performing it charted on the Hot 100. (If anyone knows a more recent example, please correct me.)
Has anyone ever charted a song with this extremely rare characteristic?
It has never happened to me, as I only know of 3 other songs that fit this category, all of which were released before 2005.

Ayla by Ayla was a UK hit in 1999, and also got some US dance play.

That was one of the 3 examples I had in mind. The others are a 1981 tribute song that hit #1 in the US, and a 1994 dance song which didn't chart in the US but went top 10 in the UK.

In Austria we had two more. Let's start with Adiemus. This project by Welsh Karl Jenkins peaked at #4 and in UK at #48 back in 1995. Then there was the Austrian Band A Klana Indiana who reached #1 in 1999.

The song was credited to Adieums. Karl Jenkins is the mastermind behind this project. As I wrote Adieums reached #4 in Austria and #48 in UK with "Adieums". Her is a link with for the chart position in Austria and Switzerland and the Wikipedia text. If you go to German side you can find the chart position for UK. And her is the song itself And from the Austrian band A Klana Indiana with "A Klana Indiana"
