LOL!!! I'm such a copycat! Not to take away from Jess' list of female rockers, my list is based on how much I like them. I included females or female fronted bands. So I hope you enjoy the list. I will start posting it tomorrow (or later today?) but knowing me, I'll post the whole top 40 in one go, wait for it! It's amazing!!!!!!! <3

So here we are! Let's get started! 40.- Gloria EstefanWell, Gloria is a nice artist. She ranks here mainly because of a couple of albums that are strong enough to warrant a placing. My favorite song by her is "Don't Let This Moment End" and my favorite album is "Alma Caribeña"39.- Juana MolinaJuana, yes even with such a name she makes the list. Very few latin artists delve into genres not usually explored in spanish, and Juana is such an artist. Her music is soft and weird, and her voice, while a tad monotone, is exactly what her music demands. My favorite song is "Son" and my favorite album is "Son"38.- Taylor SwiftTaylor makes catchy music which is her strong point in my opinion. Whether country or pop, she keeps churning songs that I like. I used to dislike her because of her not being country enough. But once I realized that was a silly point of view, I started warming up to her style and so far it's all good. My favorite song is "Sparks Fly" and my favorite album is "Speak Now"37.- RURUTIAJapanese artist with dreamy music. She manages to make catchy music without becoming mainstream pop. She on the other hand, makes surreal, ethereal and dreamy music. Such a combination has worked for her, but as expected, keeps her from getting widespread acclaim from the main public. My favorite song is "RESONANCE" and my favorite album is "Node from R"36.- LeAnn RimesFell in something close to love with her music like a couple years ago. But since then, because of scandals, she has been losing popularity, which is a shame as her music keeps getting stronger. My favorite song is "I Want To With You" and my favorite album is "Family"35.- Norah JonesUsed to skip her at all costs cause I thought she was boring, then started liking a few singles and eventually fell for her completely. Her sound keeps evolving subtly, and keeps things interesting. She might not be winning grammys anymore, but the quality of ehr music is top notch still. My favorite song is "Young Blood" and my favorite album is "The Fall"34.- Faye WongWho doesn't know her? Her song from Final Fantasy VIII made her widely known. Eyes On Me remains one of her finest songs, but her material from her albums is also very worth getting into. She has experimented with her music and as a result created more interesting music than the usual chinese fare. I haven't heard anything new from her for a while, so I hope she is readying herself for something great! Favorite song is "Eyes On Me" and my favorite album is "Restless"33.- Ximena SariñanaXimena is a mexican singer that is inconsistent with her music, the quality of it I mean. But her debut album is so good that grants her this position. From dark and moody music, she went for straight up pop with her second album (and in english no less) but her finest material remains in her debut. She is promising still, so I'll keep an eye on her for future releases, waiting to see if she can recapture the atmosphere she created when she debuted. My favorite song is "Reforma" and my favorite album "Mediocre"32.- Natalie ImbrugliaI am surprised to rank her here, but besides other great songs she has released, her album "White Lilies Island" is almost flawless. The more time it passes, the better it keeps aging. Maybe a little too mainstream, but when good music is good music, nothing else matters. Favorite song is "Beauty On The Fire" (which surprisingly I never charted) and my favorite album is "White Lilies Island"31.- Róisín MurphyWhen she was in Moloko I liked a few random songs, so I didn't mind much her debut album, I even thought it was bad. But "Overpowered" while much more accesible, is the one that made me rethink my opinion on her. Now, I appreciate the experimentalism on "Ruby Blue" and the accesibility of "Overpowered". She keeps collaborating with dance artists, so who knows when she'll release new music. My favorite song is an unreleased song she gave to Sophie Ellis-Bextor (or all people) called "Off & On" and my favorite album is "Overpowered"So, I'll keep posting, but better post this now in case something happens and I lose everything lol

30.- Keren AnnI first discovered her with her album "Nolita" which at the time, I had read reviews saying it was her weakest album to date, but I fell in love with it instantly. It was a mix of french and english songs. She has become, as I understand it, more of a indie music artist, based on where I see reviews of her music of where she's featured. But I think she has kept her chanson style and that's why I like her. She has some really awesome songs, but has some duds as well. My favorite song is "La Forme et Le Fond" and my favorite album is "Nolita"29.- Utada HikaruI don't know what other fans think, but I think she has been getting better with her japanese releases, and worse with her english. I mean, "Exodus" is amazing, but "This Is The One" was atrocious. She's taking a break from music, so it remains to be seen if she continues with this string of good music or if she reverses to something just not to her level. My favorite song is "THE WORKOUT" and my favorite album "Exodus"28.- Mariah CareyShe's a strange case. I don't really like R&B, but as it is, I prefer her music from Butterfly onwards to her first albums that I just can't stand. Also, my favorite albums seem to be the ones most hated, so there's something wrong here lol My favorite song is "I Only Wanted" (that was hard!) and my favorite album is "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel"27.- Fiona AppleI will always think her album "Extraordinary Machine" was weak, but I have to grudgingly admit that the rest of her output is pretty good. "The Idler Wheel" had the makings of a great album, and to some degree it is, but it lacked... something. Still, it congratiated me with Fiona, who I had been hating because of Extraordinary Machine. My favorite song is "I Know" and my favorite album is "When The Pawn..."26.- Emilíana TorriniOne of those chamaleonic artists, changing sound every album, which is a very good thing to do. She is slow to release music, but it is rewarding when she does so. She once called her music 'slow motion rock' so I guess that's a good title as any. My favorite song is "Heartstopper" and my favorite album is "Fisherman's Woman"25.- Élodie FrégéHer debut album sounds exactly like what you'd expect from a singer just winning a talent show, very pop and not really inspired. Despite that, she managed to erase from the public memories that album and forged herself a much more repsectable persona. With a heavy leaning folk sound, she makes sultry music that pleases my ear. Also slow to release music, who knows when I'll hear from ehr again. My favorite song is "Je Sais Jamais" and my favorite album is "Le Jeu Des 7 Erreurs"24.- Laurie AndersonA legend in my list! She started her career with "Big Science" a landmark album, and she kept on working on equally interesting music, but somehow her creativity was somehow drained at some point so she took a long break. After many years she released "Homeland" which proved she is still a force to be reckoned with. My favorite song is "My Right Eye and my favorite album is "Mister Heartbreak"23.- Céline DionAhhh Céline, once, back in 1996, she was my favorite artist and "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" was my favorite song <3 She has released so much good music throughout ehr career, but for a while now, she keeps releasing weaker music. Her legacy is enough to place her this high, and I will forever love the music I do love, particularly her french stuff. My favorite song is "Sur Le Même Bateau" and my favorite album is "S'il Suffisait D'aimer"22.- CocoRosieCocoRosie are one of those few survivors of the freak folk craze a decade ago or so. I loved that, and am still sad to see the style in disuse lol CocoRosie managed to survive and keep making good music. Their trademark, those weird sounds and toys and curiosities they sample in their music. They even have incorporated hip hop into a few songs and it sounds effortlessly. A great band. Favorite song is "Miracle" and my favorite album is "The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn"21.- Ayumi HamasakiOne of those 'ancient' relics of jpop. Few female singers make a long and lasting career in Japan, but Ayumi manages to stay there. Maybe nhot as relevant as before, but she is still a rpesence and her name carries some weight. She adapts her jpop sound according to trends, and she incorporates rock elements often in her music, to my delight. Favorite song is "HEAVEN" and my favorite album is "Party Queen"

20.- Brigitte FontaineAh Brigitte! One of the best Avant Garde musicians out there. She is one of those few artists who release music in a language that is not english, and still gets attention from english speakers. She has evolved her sound from the 70's through this day, and still gets glowing reviews and the love of her peers. Innovative and daring, Brigitte Fontaine has already carved a place in music history. My favorite song is "Gilles De La Tourette" and my favorite album is "Comme a La Radio"19.- Vashti BunyanVashti, the forever relevant Vashti lol She took that 30 year+ break from music between her first and second album and it seems she will do that again! So we have two albums and a double album of singles and rarities. Hardly enough to make this list you say? Wrong, her music is heavenly and even if she doesn't think so, very folk oriented. Now I only hope she gets to release something else before something bad happens. My favorite song is "Swallow Song" and my favorite album is "Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind"18.- GoldfrappI wonder how old she is, she has deflected this question a few times... anyway! One of those changing style bands. I still prefer the sound of Felt Mountain to that of Head First, but still we have the hope that the unthinkable happens and they release another different album that will please me. Her voice is so gentle and her music, for the most part so good, that she deserves this position. Favorite song is "A&E" and favorite album is "Felt Mountain"17.- Ai OtsukaWhile her last solo album was bad (and it had the horrible "Sachihata") the rest of her stuff is great. She usually switches between cheery uber fast cutesy song and deep heartfelt ballads. I wonder why she doesn't release music on her own anymore, but the few lbums she released remain consistent and well loved by me and her fans. Favorite song is "Sensu" and my favorite album is "LOVE JAM"16.- Joanna NewsomOk, enough! There are so many artists that release slowly, I wonder why. Joanna has a while without releasing something. However, her latest "Have One On Me" was a triple album that at first was repetitive, but after many months, it revealed it's great amount of richness. She has a rare instrument to fight with, the harp. I mean, she plays others, but that's what she is known for. My favorites song is "Only Skin" and my favorite album is still "The Milk-Eyed Mender"15.- alanA chinese singer that sings in japanese and chinese. Her voice is almost without challengers. A prodigious voice and amazing music. She recently ahs retreated to China, but the quality of her output has been somehow reduced. I hope she can return to Japan and keep on releasing touching music as she has done the last few years. Not to mention she is gorgeous! My favorite song is "Xin Zhan ~RED CLIFF~" and my favorite album "Voice of Earth"14.- Diamanda GalásThe foremost demonic singer ever! Seriously! I mean, she sings with such passion and often, her music is too dark and sinister. The first few albums she released were so complex and went too deep under the skin. She has cooled down through the years, but she is also known for her vocal acrobatics. Another artist that hasn't released anything lately My favorite 'song' is "Wild Women With Steak Knives" and my favorite album is "The Divine Punishment"13.- Sarah McLachlanI admit, her album "Afterglow" is the main reason she's so high. Not to say the rest of her music isn't good, but with Afterglow she reached a peak in my opinion. The earlier part of her career and the later part have been weak, but there are still many good songs in her catalogue, so this is not exactly a fluke. Favorite song "Perfect Girl" and my favorite album is "Afterglow"12.- IslajaA finnish artist. Even there, her music style keeps her from being well known. Still, she has a loyal fanbase. Her music is kinda like psychadelic folk, and even if I don't see it, she has also been described as "Nico on acid" Despite the growing fanbase (which is still small) she keeps singing in her language, not like other artists that see the easy way and go sing in english. My favorite song is "Kämmen, Kynsi, Kieli" and my favorite album is "Ulual Yyy"11.- Francoise HardyFrancoise has been around for many decades, making beautiful music. She sings in french and her sound keeps slightly shifting. She was one of those ye-ye singers back in the 60's, but since then she has included elements of pop, rock and indie (!!) into her music, while keeping it inside that genre called chanson, sounding always very french. My favorite song is "Soir De Gala" and my favorite album is "Tant De Belles Choses"

10.- Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble Of ShadowsShe's a transexual, but she lives her life as a woman, so that's it, she is included! Her sound has always been depressive and a little sinister, but her latest albums have added other electronic sounds, making the sadness usually attributed to her music seem just there to spice things up. A gothic sounding artist, she remains the most interesting artist from Germany. My favorite song is "And Bringer Of Sadness" and my favorite album "Have You Seen This Ghost"09.- PortisheadBeth Gibbons leads this band originary from Portishead Another one yet with very little material, but the strength of that material keeps them forever relevant. She also is included here because of her album with Rustin Man "Out Of Season" which many people thought would be trip hop and were disappointed with what she came up with. My favorite song is "Only You" and my favorite album "Portishead"08.- OLIVIAHalf japanese, half american, Olivia Lufkin has made her career in Japan. And the weird thing is she's not fluent in japanese, go figure! At the beginning of her career she went for a more experimental sound, but as stated by her, that was because she was depressed, so when she overcame that, her sound started getting poppier, but keeping a rock sound. Another artist that takes long breaks to release something Favorite song "tears & rainbows" And my favorite album is "The Lost Lolli"07.- PJ HarveyElvis Costello once said that she only sang about violence and blood lol Well, PJ is another of those artists that keep changing and evolving with very few misses. Lately she has given up the grunge sound of her beginnings, trading it for moody music and lighter rock. That she is still releasing music at this stage of her career is proof that her music is good and as added support, the critics love her. My favorite song is "Catherine" and my favorite album is "White Chalk"06.- NicoNico is better known for her tenure with The Velvet Underground and her first solo album "Chelsea Girl". However, considering that stage of her career as a sample of what she's capable of, is a big mistake. She went really dark on her second album, and practically went avant garde and experimental to the max. Considering this happened in the 60's, that was a ballsy move from her part. She continued like that for some years, and eventually released music until the mid 80's when she passed away. A true icon in rock music, and a smaple of what music can convey if you are willing to samnple it. Favorite song is "You Forget To Answer" and my favorite album is "The Marble Index"05.- Lisa GermanoI once read she was defined in her music as "sadcore" which makes much sense. She started with some rocky music, but eventually she settles with dark lullabies, her whispering vocals and often ominous lyrics and sound make her a hard sell, but she keeps releasing music to this day, and hopefully we'll have her for many years to come. My favorite song is "Of Love and Colors" and her best album is "In The Maybe World"04.- Kate BushKate has been considered a big influence in so many current artists, and I think it's a compliment to say that. She has been releasing music since the late 70's and to this day, she releases quality music. Even what some consider her weakest albums have much to offer. Her latest album "50 Words for Snow" was another masterpiece, proving she's here to stay, and hopefully will release something else soon. My favorite song is "And Dream Of Sheep" and my favorite album is "The Dreaming"03.- BjörkBjörk is one of those artists that has gained the respect of most people and critics, thanks to her visual side as well as her music. She has gone to really poppy territory while also going to the darkest parts of music. She is not afraid to experiment and usually the results are well worth it. Gone are the days when ehr music would chart, but if quality isn the result of that, then I'm not complaining. Best song is "Bachelorette" and my favorite album is "Biophilia"02.- Morning MusumeThey might stick like a sore tomg here among all these real artists, but this female idol group has released so many good songs that I can't look the other way and ignore them. The results artists and singers aim for is to make people enjoy the music, and in that Morning Musume have excelled. With an ever changing line up, they continue to release music in Japan. Their strong point are upbeat fast numbers, but they also sings a few ballads, even if it's rare. My favorite song is "The Matenrou Show" and my favorite album is "13 Colorful Character"01.- Tori AmosIf you didn't guess this, either you're new here, or you just don't know me lol. Tori, with a career spanning a couple of decades, has been to Venus and back Switching styles almost with every new release, she has gone to even the classic music realm and made a real captivating album. While her experimentation days are behind her, she continues to push the envelope in one or another way, so I am sure she will continue to release amazing music until the very end. And that's it guys! What did you think of this list? <3

A bit surprised you love Momusu SO much that they are already #2 on your all time list!! I guess they could become #1 if recent trends continue! jajajaj Yeah, I thought it woulod be too much to place them at 2, but they really are AMAZING!! If Sarah McLachlan was carried to 13 on the strength of one album, Momusu have a few more under their belt. I admit, their earlier material (first 5 albums or maybe 6) are not to my liking much. Mainly cause I dislike all those old looking girls ajajajajaj! SOOOOOO shallow, I KNOW!! ajajjaja I think you might be on to something. Tori's last release, Gold Dust was SO disappointing. First time for her, while Momusu's last album was PERFECT! <3 Thanks so much for replying Kworby! <3 And sorry everybody for soooo many typos, I could fix them... but... nah!
