#2* -- 1 2 XX - Great Big Sea
#1* -- 1 1 Cigarettes & Truckstops - Lindi Ortega
- This week's Top Debut award is an interesting one as it is actually the sixth highest entry on the chart. The Top Debut goes to the highest entry that it appearing for the first time. Lindi Ortega receives it for her new single The Day You Die at #88. Entering ahead of it are all songs that have charted before. Below it, there are two more re-entries as well, outnumbering the number of brand new entries 7:5.
- Among the re-entries is Some Nights, the former #1 by fun. The song had a pre-mature drop off the chart but due to recent airplay increases as well as their SNL performance, the song returns to the chart with renewed interest. While it will unlikely re-enter the Top 40, it could hang around for a while longer. Meanwhile, their current hit Carry On spends a third week at #1.
- Great Big Sea make their first appearance on the album chart since 1996 when Up was a current hit. That album didn't hit #1 but it likely made the Top 5 throughout that year. The band from Newfoundland have had songs charting off and on since then on The Max 100 but nothing that would have made as big a dent as they would have had the chart existed back in 1995.
