i've owned this album since early this summer and i've yet to go a month without listening to it... the album is a smash (In my opinion)
now here's a track by track review from yours truly
When I'm Gone
Was there any better way to kick off the new album then with this terrific song? not only did it break gently from their sound from "The Better Life" it also permitted the band from exiting the shadow of "Kryptonite".

Away From the Sun
one of the few ballads on this album, the title track to the album. This one offers a mix of soul and a good guitar hook. Truly a work of art.
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: A+[/glow]
The Road I'm On
the second release to radio, this one is a kicked up rock track. The video featured two young guns of the "Nascar" circuit (Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhart Jr.). The song is a strong effort
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: B[/glow]
Ticket To Heaven
another heavy hooked guitar track, this song is definately worth the listen, the lyrics are strong and the blend of vocals with the music make it a perfect mix.
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: B+[/glow]
Running Out Of Days
One of the tracks i haven't really caught on too entirely, though i still enjoy listening to it. The music is missing a few key ingredients to make this another perfect song.
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: B+[/glow]
Here Without You
The latest release of the boys, another strong ballad, well sung and a very good instrumentation to boot. These are some of the example as to why these guys are ahead of the pack when it comes to their art.
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: A+[/glow]
I Feel You
Unfortunately, it seems on every album there is one or more dissapointing tracks, and this track is one of those. This seems like a "The Better Life" extra that made it's way on this album, which is a change of pace from the remainder of this album.
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: C-[/glow]
Dangerous Game
After a dissapoiting track, they come back strong with this song. It doesn't have the appeal of many of the tracks on this album, but that doesn't remove a thing from this song, it's still a well played effort.
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: B-[/glow]
Changes
This song starts off as a ballad, then steps up to a straight up rock track, then mellows back a bit. The mixing of the two is a pretty good thing, and does not fail to deliver.
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: A-[/glow]
Going Down In Flames
Extremely awesome arrangement of guitar, vocals and lyrics. This is probably gonna be one of the most overlooked tracks on the album
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: B+[/glow]
Sarah Yellin'"
good guitar hooks... but the vocals don't cut it with me, this is probably my second dissapointing track of the album. This also sounds like a scrap from "The Better life"
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: C[/glow]
This Time
good closing track, i think that they couldn't have picked a better track for the last one. The vocals are much stronger on this then on the previous track, they make up for a dissapointement yet again.
[glow=red,2,300]Grade: B-[/glow]
OVERALL: this is a good album to listen to in any mood, and i personally recommend it to everybody.
OVERALL GRADE: A
