A battle is shaping up between a pair of Columbia superstars to see who will be the "Boss" of next week's chart.
Bruce Springsteen looks to be locked ina pretty tight battle with Adele for #1 next week, with both Wrecking Ball and 21 in the 200-225k range.
One more chart-topping performance for Adele will give her 24 weeks at #1, tying her for the pre-Soundscan era with both Prince's Purple Rain and Saturday Night Fever. The West Side Story soundtrack holds the all-time record with 54 weeks at #1, set back in 1962-63.
The only additional debuts of note are a pair of EPs, one from Capitol Nashville/EMI's Luke Bryan (17-20k), the other from Nickelodeon/Columbia teen stars Big Time Rush (10-12p).
Album sales were flat vs. last week, flat vs. the same week last year and up 3% year to date.
Track sales were down 4% vs. last week, up 6% vs. same week last year and up 7% year to date.
TEA sales were down 1% vs. last week, up 2% vs. same week last year and up 4% year to date.

In one of the closest races we've seen for #1, Bruce Springsteen gets a slight edge over Adele in the battle for the top of next week's chart. Complicating the projections this week are the 25-cent albums being featured this week at Google Play, which are being price-matched at Amazon MP3. While we know about Now 41, Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV and Lady Antebellum's Own the Night being offered at such a ridiculously low price, there are still several days left in the week to see what other titles get discounted. Because of this, please expect a greater than usual margin of error and expect to see at least a few more titles come in with much larger sales. Here's how things look at midweek:
*Bruce Springsteen (Columbia) 210-220k Adele 21 (XL/Columbia) 210-220k Now 41 (Capitol/EMI) 90-100k Whitney Houston Greatest Hits (RCA) 80-85k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 65-70k Lil Wayne (YM/Cash Money/Universal Republic) 60-65k Adele 19 (XL/Columbia) 25-28k *Luke Bryan EP (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 24-27k Tyga (YM/Cash Money/Universal Republic) 21-24k The Bodyguard soundtrack (RCA) 21-24k Drake (YM/Cash Money/Universal Republic) 21-24k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 18-21k fun. (Fueled By Ramen) 17-20k Gotye (Fairfax/Universal Republic) 17-20k Kelly Clarkson (19/RCA) 15-18k Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 15-18k LMFAO (Interscope) 15-18k *Andrew Bird (Mom + Pop) 15-18k
*Debuts
