On the singles chart, Flo Rida and Sia hold down the number one position for a second week with "Wild Ones". Making a charge up eight places to two is "Hey Hey Hey" from Laurent Wery, but it's dropped away a bit on iTunes, so it's probably not a real threat. David Guetta and Nicki Minaj are steady at three, while Simple Plan score their highest ever position in Australia with "Summer Paradise" up to four. It is summer after all.
The only probable threat to "Wild Ones" for number one next week is Matt Corby. His "Into The Flame" EP races up 34 places to land at eight. And with "Brother" coming in at #3 on the JJJ Hottest 100 last Thursday, that song has shot up the iTunes chart. Hilltop Hoods and Sia jump eight places to land at eleven, and with "I Love It" coming in at #10 on the JJJ H100, they should hit the top ten next week. Drake and Rihanna jump six spots to twelve with "Take Care", it would have certainly hit the top ten next week if not for the H100, but now it will have to wait. And 360 and Gossling jump ten places to 19 with "Boys Like You". That came in at #8 on the Hottest 100 and should also be firmly within the top ten next week.
"Throw Your Hands Up" from Qwote is the highest entry of the week, it re-enters the top fifty at a new peak of 37. New to the top fifty this week is James Morrison. He enters at 39 with "I Won't Let You Go". That song was featured heavily in promos over summer for Home And Away, but now the promos are over and the song will likely drop away. Knife Party enter at 41 with their "100% No Modern Talking" EP, primarily due to the weird-ass song "Internet Friends". And Jessie J and David Guetta scrape into the top fifty at 49 with "LaserLight".
On the albums side of things, Adele reigns for a 27th week at #1 with "21". Foster The People hit a new peak of two with "Torches", while Lamb Of God make a massve debut at three with "Resolution". I'm sure THAT will be a stayer. LMFAO fall away to four and The Black Keys hit a new peak of five with "El Camino".
Boy & Bear jump back into the top ten at nine with "Moonfire", while Skrillex moves up one place to ten with the "Bangarang" EP. Yes, sometimes EP's appear on the singles chart here in Australia, and sometimes they're confined to the albums chart. We're a crazay, crazay bunch! Kasabian rebound eighteen places to sit at 27 with "Velociraptor".
Aside from the huge Lamb Of God entry, there are a few others. Celtic Thunder are in at 30 with "Heritage". Enter Shikari, um, enter at 32 with "A Flash Flood Of Colour". Local country artist Amber Lawrence debuts at 41 with "3". Chairlift are in at 45 with "Something". And returning to the top fifty is Busby Marou with their self-titled album, it's back in at 40.
Next week should be a crazy fun week for the charts due to the Hottest 100 sending a lot of songs racing back up, or just up, the charts, and it also can affect the albums charts. Plus, it's festival season, so with a lot of acts touring, that can cause sales spikes. Should be interesting.
