10. Avril Lavigne - What The Hell PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)In 2011, one of the comebacks I'd anticipated the most was the return of Avril Lavigne. This lead single certainly didn't disappoint, and it reminded me why I always liked her in the first place. However, any momentum this lead single had was quickly dashed as the very underwhelming, immature "Smile" (which became by far her lowest charting single to date) was released next, and that I failed to get into "Wish You Were Here" as much as I'd hoped... but still, at least Avril got one of her songs into the year-end chart! Hopefully she has more of a back to basics, grown up direction on her next album and ditches the immature sound that I, frankly, am tired of. 09. Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All PEAK: #1 (5 weeks)This is a case where the lead single also failed to disappoint... however, unlike Avril, Kelly Clarkson managed to stay strong through the entire album! "Stronger" indeed lived up to its title for me, being one of my favourite Kelly albums to date, with every single track being great. The anticipation of this new album helped this lead single spend five straight weeks at #1 on my chart, and firmly ranks her within my top 10 songs of the year. Her newest single "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)", which recently spent four weeks at #1, is still going strong on my weekly chart, and could very well make my top 100 of 2012 as well! 08. Adele - Someone Like You PEAK: #1 (1 week)2011's surprise success story has to be Adele... who could've possibly seen her sell so well with her latest album, "21"? It's definitely a relief in a world of declining album sales, that someone with true talent can do so well... and this song, one of the simplest songs on the chart with just her vocal and a piano, became one of the songs that defined this year for her. With an album as great as "21" was, I do expect its momentum will carry over into 2012 as well!

07. Kate Voegele - Sandcastles PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)When Kate Voegele's latest album "Gravity Happens" came out, this song was one of the immediate standouts for me. The thoughtful lyrics helped me really enjoy the song, as it's easily relateable for those wishing things could be as they were when they were younger, and it ended up reaching my #1 spot for three weeks. As big as this song was for me, Kate has one more still to come... how high did "Heart In Chains" end up? 06. David Cook - The Last Goodbye PEAK: #2And here's the highest entry that never reached #1 on my weekly chart! While it only reached a peak of #2, its overall longevity helped former American Idol winner David Cook score my #6 song of 2011! His sophomore album, "This Loud Morning", pleasantly surprised me as it's one of my top albums of the year, and the fact that it's had two huge hits on my chart has shown that he still can make great music.

05. Michelle Branch - Loud Music PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)While she hasn't released a solo album since 2003, or a full-length album of any kind since 2006 (which is when the Wreckers' album was released), Michelle Branch has continued to make my chart ever since with songs from various projects and aborted album releases. This song, her ode to classic rock music, became her return to the Hot AC charts for the first time in years, and it was truly a welcome comeback for her, debuting at #1 on my chart and spending a total of three weeks there. Much like "All You Wanted" (#5 2002), "Are You Happy Now?" (#1 2003), "Leave The Pieces (#1 2006) and "Sooner Or Later" (#3 2009), this also makes my top 5 year-end. 04. Maroon 5 f/Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger PEAK: #1 (1 week)Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera, individually, have both been among my chart's top artists since my chart started in 1999. So when it came time for them to team up, it was natural that it also ended up a huge hit on my chart! While it only spent a single week at #1 here, its longevity was enough to rank this as my #4 song of 2011, a region of my year-end charts that both artists are familiar with, having had many huge hits during my chart's history.

Excellent top ten! Wasn't much of a fan of Kate Voegele's song, but other than that, great songs all around (several of which are in my top ten as well)!

03. Tamar Kaprelian - New Day PEAK: #1 (4 weeks)One of my surprise hits of 2011, singer-songwriter Tamar Kaprelian caught me by surprise with this song, which had a style that I normally like and relateable lyrics. It quickly became one of my favourites, and within 3 weeks, was at #1 on my chart, a position it held for 4 weeks. Unfortunately, this is the only song I've ever heard from her, so she could end up as one of my chart's biggest one-hit wonders.. but who knows? She could show up again at some time... but for now, this song ranks as my #3 song of 2011!

02. 3 Doors Down - When You're Young PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)It was no surprise that, when 3 Doors Down came back, that they'd get another big hit on my chart. And that they did here, as they score my runner-up position on my 2011 year-end! This song, which was criticised for its similarity to the similarly-titled "When I'm Gone", had more easily-relateable lyrics that I, as I get older, can relate to, and kept with their signature sound. And while they did score #2 for the year... the fact that they are #2 and the #1 artist is #1 isn't the first time this has happened! 01. Kate Voegele - Heart In Chains PEAK: #1 (5 weeks)It should shock absolutely nobody that, since Kate Voegele released a new album in 2011, that she'd have my #1 song of the year. I even called it before the song actually got released! The song had pretty much everything that made me love Kate at first; a catchy melody, well-written lyrics, and of course, Kate's beautiful voice. All that came together for a very well-crafted song that I instantly loved, debuting at #1, and spending 5 weeks there, spending a total of 34 weeks in my top 100. Now if this isn't all... remember back in 2008 when Kate had #1 with her record breaking hit "Heart In Chains"? The #2 song that year was... you guessed it, 3 Doors Down with "It's Not My Time"! Maybe 3 Doors Down needs to team up with Kate to get their year-end #1? Anyway, congratulations Kate, this is the third year out of the past four you've had my top song of the year!

I like eight songs of your Top 10! I hope that Tamar Kaprelian is no one-hit wonder. Kate Voegele with a good and expected #1 song of the year!

I like how the top 10 has a good mix of newer artists, veterans and your girl Kate Voegele. My favorite song in the top 10 would be "Loud Music."
