Okay, I've decided to take some initiative here, and see what everyone thinks of an M4BCC retro chart.
I'm thinking of the possibility of going with one chart for the 80's and another for the 90's... and one thing I've seen on another board is rotating through the weeks in real time corresponding to the current week in a year in that decade, adding songs released that week to the rotation taken from various charts. Of course, you'd have to compile a separate list for this based on the playlist.
What does everyone think? And what years should we begin with (name one 80's and one 90's that would be a good jumping-on point for this chart) Should we start with January charts (as the beginning of the year) or July charts (assuming this starts the first week of July, it would keep continuity with the current week)?

So if I like a song by Scott Walker that charted nowhere and no one even knew it was released, then it wouldn't be in the playlist, so it wouldn't be eligible for me to chart it? Just trying to get the basics

Just trying to get the basics We would be open to requests, so if you know when a song was released, feel free to suggest Actually, I've decided how I'd like the 80's chart to work, and I feel this would be the most practical. It would start in January 1980, and go week by week from there. The reason being; Jason and Jessica both have posted weekly retro charts that can be used towards a cumulative retro chart (Jason up to September 10, 1983 so far and Jessica up to July 23, 1983 so far); in addition, Adam has posted his own retro charts up to July 4, 1981 on an old blog he did. These three charts could be automatically included week by week along with any other members who wish to participate. I'm not sure how many positions it would have... either 30 or 40 would work though. Still open to suggestions for how a 90's chart would work, but I'd like to get the 80's one up and running soon

I'd like to see this chart take off as well. I like the idea of a list just to get an idea of where to start. I already know my tastes differ (sometimes drastically) from Adam and Jess for example , so it'd better be open to "suggestion" here and there Also, I do like the idea of having such a chart like 80s retro go: rotating through the weeks in real time corresponding to the current week in a year in that decade, adding songs released that week to the rotation taken from various charts. Of course, you'd have to compile a separate list for this based on the playlist. Going back to what I previously stated- I dont think it'd be a good idea to be 100% strictly locked into a playlist to choose from. Just my thought.
