This week's composite chart looks at the: Top 25 FEMALE ARTISTS 2000-2010: 25. KATY PERRYMost Successful SinglePeak: #1 (3 weeks, 2008) Other Number One Singles: Hot n Cold, Waking Up In Vegas, If We Ever Meet Again (all one week at number one) Katy Perry shot to the top with her breakthrough hit "I Kissed A Girl". Since then, she has enjoyed a steady stream of hits, with Hot n Cold being one of the most played singles of summer 2008-09 here in New Zealand. Most recently, she topped the charts with the track "If We Ever Meet Again", a collaboration with Timbaland, and the holder of the current number one in NZ. 24. JORDIN SPARKSMost Successful SinglePeak: #1 (2 weeks, 2008) [with Chris Brown] Other Number One Singles: Battlefield (2 weeks) One of two Idols in the top 25, Jordin Sparks enjoyed incredibly success with her breakthrough single "No Air". The duet with Chris Brown became the highest selling single of 2008 in New Zealand and also topped the chart in Australia and went top five in the UK and USA. She also released Tattoo and One Step At A Time, both singles enjoying moderate success and places in the top ten on my personal chart. In 2009 she came back with follow up album, Battlefield. The lead single saw her back at top in July of 2009, but her follow up, SOS (Let The Music Play) failed to reach the same success. The ballads seem to be Sparks's strong point, so hopefully she can pull out some more great ones in 2010. 23. LEONA LEWISMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (5 weeks) Other Number One Singles: Forgive Me (1 week), Happy (2 weeks) Having a massive breakout single has always been a good thing in the pop world, and that is exactly how Lewis broke out. Her massive single 'Bleeding Love' was released in 2007 and broke records worldwide. But it wasn't her first number one in her homeland of Britain, she had released 'A Moment Like This' after winning X-Factor which had soared to number one and become the biggest selling single of 2006. Bleeding Love reached number one in the USA, making Lewis the first British female solo artist to reach number one since Kim Wilde in 1987. Follow up singles Better In Time, Run and Forgive Me enjoyed success on my personal chart. In 2009 she released her second album 'Echo'. The lead single Happy spent a healthy two weeks at number one, buoyed by a very heartfelt video. Her current single 'I Got You' is still in the chart. 22. JESSICA SIMPSONMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (1 week, 2005) Other Number One Singles: I Wanna Love You Forever, Take My Breath Away, I Belong To Me (all 1 week) Up to 2004, Jessica Simpson was seen mainly as a follow on from the bubblegum pop of artists like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Mandy Moore. When she released her third studio album, In This Skin, it seemed that she had outgrown that image and was trying to appeal to an older audience, with radio-friendly pop like 'With You', and remakes of classics like 'Take My Breath Away' in 'Angels'. However it was in 2005 when Simpson released 'These Boots Are Made For Walkin' for The Dukes of Hazzard that she really broke out of her shell. The track charted highly across the world, and has an unforgettable video. After this she released A Public Affair, not a bad effort, but not as successful as her previous singles. After a brief foray into country music, Simpson seems to have disappeared from the music scene altogether, I'm confident that she'll be back again soon. 21. NATASHA BEDINGFIELDMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (1 week, 2008) [with Sean Kingston] Other Number One Singles: These Words (1 week) Initially when Natasha Bedingfield came out with her debut single, everyone simply thought of her as Daniel Bedingfield's younger sister. Indeed Daniel Bedingfield had enjoyed success in the UK and Down Under with several hits in 2003. However, when Natasha released These Words, it instantly became a worldwide hit. Her debut single, 'Single' was largely ignored by radio here, but These Words was huge and gave her a number two peak in New Zealand, and a number one peak on my chart. She followed it up with 'Unwritten' a track that did really big things in the USA, reaching the top ten of the year. In 2007 she released 'NB' in the UK, and then followed up in 2008 the made for US release 'Pocketful of Sunshine'. From this album came hits like the title track and her biggest hit 'Love Like This'. 2009 was a quiet year for Natasha but apparently we can expect a new album later on this year!

20. LILY ALLENMost Successful Single:SMILEPeak: #1 (1 week, 2006) Other Number One Singles: Alfie (1 week) Lily Allen came out in 2006 with Alright Still, and many critics commended Lily for her truthful and open lyrics. She kicked off her singles with 'Smile' which is still her biggest single on my chart. She followed up with huge hits like 'LDN', 'Littlest Things' and 'Alfie'. That track reached number one thanks to her BDO performance in early 2007. In 2009, she released her sophomore album 'It's Not Me It's You'. Once again there were some big single releases, 'The Fear' and 'Not Fair' both reached the top five. Lily Allen announced after the release of her album that she is wanting to retire from the music industry, but she's still releasing singles from the album so not entirely sure if that's true ... 19. BROOKE FRASERMost Successful Single"ALBERTINEPeak: #1 (1 week, 2007) Other Number One Singles: Better (1 week), Arithmetic (1 week), Without You (2 weeks) Another artists with only two albums under her belt, Brooke Fraser managed to enjoy hit after hit on my chart. Both of her albums spawned five top five singles, the biggest of which was 'Albertine' which spent a solitary week at number one in 2007. Surprisingly, Brooke is the only New Zealand artist in the top 25 (the next highest entry is Gin Wigmore at #62). Even though she hasn't had any new material since 2006, she is currently working on her third album, so hopefully we should hear more from her this year. 18. HILARY DUFFMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (1 week, 2004) Other Number 1 Singles: Beat Of My Heart, With Love (both one week) When she released her first single in 2003, Hilary Duff was better known as Lizzie Maguire. Her first album was full of family friendly pop, although directed mainly at young teenagers. Come Clean was the third single from that album, and enjoyed one week at number one. Later in 2004 she released 'Hilary Duff'; 'Fly', 'Someone's Watching Over Me', and 'I Am' were all top five hits. Next she released a collection of her singles, 'Most Wanted'. The lead single 'Fly' peaked in the top five and 'Beat of My Heart' peaked at number one. In 2007, 'Dignity' was released, her most recent album of new material. It was a different direction for Duff, in fact the third single from the album 'Stranger' had her dancing in a gypsy outfit. Unfortunately there has been no major chart success since 17. LADY GAGAMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (5 weeks) Other Number One Singles: Poker Face (1 week), Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) (1 week), Telephone (2 weeks) Lady GaGa is unquestionably one of the biggest artists in the world right now, and it's hard to think just two years ago she was a nobody. I remember the first time I heard her debut single 'Just Dance'. It had debuted quite high on the chart and I had never heard it before, and watching it, I wasn't impressed!!! LOL! Needless to say, she has really grown on my, Just Dance charted for over 40 weeks, and so did follow up's Poker Face and Paparazzi. Towards the end of 2009, Lady GaGa released The Fame Monster a follow up album which had only eight songs. Bad Romance, the lead single, became a huge hit worldwide and sat at number one for four consecutive weeks, and also kicked off 2010 at number one. IMO she is a hugely talented woman, and she can look forward to more number ones this year, I'm confident of it!!! 16. GWEN STEFANIMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (2 weeks) Other Number One Singles: Rich Girl (4 weeks), Hollaback Girl (1 week), Wind It Up (1 week), 4 In The Morning (2 weeks) Gwen Stefani is the lead singer of No Doubt, a band who enjoyed incredible success in the 1990's particularly with their breakthrough single 'Don't Speak'. At the beginning of the decade, they released Rock Steady which spawned hits such as 'Hey Baby' and 'Underneath It All'. When Stefani went solo in 2004, she released Love.Angel.Music.Baby. The album went on to become my second favourite album of 2005, with three number one singles, and non-released tracks peaking in the top ten. In 2007, she followed this up with The Sweet Escape. Even though Wind It Up and The Sweet Escape became her two biggest songs in New Zealand, the album failed to make as much of an impact (the singles were good, but by far the best songs on the album). In 2009, Stefani joined back up with No Doubt, who are set to release an album of new material early in 2010.

15. SHAKIRAMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (3 weeks, 2002) Other Number One Singles: Underneath Your Clothes (4 weeks), Whenever, Wherever (3 weeks), Objection (tango) (1 week), La Tortura (1 week) One of the truly international artists, Shakira had not only one single in the top ten highest selling singles worldwide of the decade, but two. Hips Don't Lie and Whenever Wherever both became huge singles from the Colombian popstar and shot her to instant fame. 'Laundry Service' was Shakira's first album, it had some interesting lyrics - including the unforgettable line "lucky that my breasts are small and humble so u don't confuse them with mountains". Needless to say, Shakira's lyrics have improved since then, and she's released some substantial ballads on the side like 'Illegal' off her second English language album 'Oral Fixation Vol 2'. In 2009, Shakira released 'She Wolf' which didn't see the same success as the singles off her first two albums. Her latest single, 'Gypsy' is sitting pretty at number twelve this week. 14. KYLIE MINOGUEMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (1 week, 2002) Number Two Peaks: On A Night Like This, Come Into My World, I Believe In You, Giving You Up After two decades in the music business, Kylie Minogue is still releasing albums and charting with singles. Going into the decade, Kylie had huge hits with 'Spinning Around' and 'On A Night Like This' and continued this with a string of successful albums and singles. In total between 2000 and 2010 she managed 10 top five singles and one number one, Can't Get You Out Of My Head. The track went on to become one of her signature songs worldwide. Her most recent album 'X' was released in 2008 and was successful in Australia but struggled to produce hits worldwide. The lead single 'Two Hearts' didn't chart high on my chart (only peaked at 31) and follow up singles didn't do too well either. Oh well. 13. JENNIFER LOPEZMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (3 weeks) [with LL Cool J] Other Number One Singles: Ain't It Funny (2 weeks) I'm Real (1 week), Get Right (1 week) Going into the new decade, Jennifer Lopez found huge success with her first single 'If you had my love'. Her Latin tinged pop went well with other stars of the day, such as Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias. However it was with her second album 'J-Lo' that she became a superstar of the time. The album contained huge hits like 'Love Don't Cost A Thing', 'Play' and a subsequent remix album produced the revamped 'I'm real' with Ja Rule. Up to the end of the decade, J-Lo continued to be a household name, appearing in a number of moderately successful (but often critically panned - Gigli anyone?) movies. Her fifth studio album, Brave, produced one hit song 'Do It Well'. With an album due out this year, we can expect more from this diva. 12. DELTA GOODREMMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (1 week, 2003) Other Number One Singles: Lost Without You, Not Me, Not I, Happy Christmas, Predictable, Almost Here, Out Of The Blue (all one week) Australia's newest pop princess, Delta Goodrem had a hugely successful career with seven number one singles over the decade. Internationally, she was probably more known from her role in Neighbours, however when Born To Try was released and reached number one in Australia and New Zealand, she became even more of a household name. Innocent Eyes went on to become (according to ARIA) the biggest album of the decade and produced four more number one singles. In 2004, Delta continued the string with hits like 'Out Of the Blue', 'Mistaken Identity' and 'Almost Here'. Her third album Delta, also produced super-hit 'In This Life'. All in all it was a huge decade for Delta and she is the highest placing Australian solo female artists between 2000 and 2010. 11. AVRIL LAVIGNEMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (1 week) Other Number One Singles: Complicated (2 weeks), Sk8er Boi (1 week), My Happy Ending (1 week), Keep Holding On (1 week), Girlfriend (1 week), When You're Gone (2 weeks) Another artist with seven number ones, Avril Lavigne is the second highest Canadian entry in the chart. Avril's debut single 'Complicated' became the number one single of 2002 in New Zealand and launched her into the charts. Follow up singles, Sk8er Boi and I'm With You were also hugely successful top five hits. Follow up album 'Under My Skin' wasn't as successful as her debut 'Let Go' but her third album spawned the international hit 'Girlfriend'. Despite the track reaching number one on my chart (for one week), IMO it is one of the most irritating tracks. Unfortunately loads of people like it!!! This year, Avril has come back with the theme song from Alice in Wonderland, appropriately named 'Alice' it has so far peaked at number twenty on my chart.

Continuing with the top 25 and into the top ten!: 10. ANASTACIAMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (2 weeks, 2004) Other Number One Singles: Cowboys and Kisses (1 week), Sick And Tired (1 week), Everything Burns (2 weeks) In 2000, Anastacia released her debut album 'Not That Kind'. Her first single 'I'm Outta Love' did incredibly well worldwide, peaking at number one in New Zealand and Australia. It also became the numebr one single of the year. She went on to release more singles, with her second album 'Freak of Nature' being released in 2001. However, it was in 2004 that she returned to her former glory with the release of her third album, 'Anastacia'. The album spawned the number one tracks 'Left Outside Alone' and 'Sick and Tired'. The follow-up singles were also successful, 'Welcome To My Truth' reaching number three and 'Heavy On My Heart' peaking at number eleven (despite the lowly peak, it has become the biggest single ever to miss the top ten). After a greatest hits album in 2006, she followed up with her latest offering 'Heavy Rotation'. 9. NELLY FURTADOMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (1 week, 2006) Other Number One Singles: I'm Like A Bird (2 weeks), Turn Off The Light (1 week), On The Radio (1 week), Well Well (1 week), Powerless (1 week), Try (1 week), Promiscuous (2 weeks), Maneater (2 weeks), All Good Things (Come To An End) (1 week) With a total of 10 number ones in the weekly chart, Nelly Furtado did incredibly well for someone who only released three English albums. In fact there is only two more artists in the countdown that have managed to make the top ten while only releasing three albums, and they are coming up very soon ... Debuting with 'Whoa! Nelly' in 2001, Furtado's folk roots were prevalent and her lead single 'I'm Like A Bird' gave her moderate success around the world. She went on to win the Best New Artist Grammy (interestingly there are two more Best New Artist winners to come!) and saw out the year with two more hits, 'Turn Off The Light' and 'On The Radio'. In 2003 she released her follow-up album, 'Folklore'. The album did not receive as much success as her debut and many thought it the end of her career. In 2006 her image was revamped due to her collaboration with Timbaland, and released her most successful album to date 'Loose'. The album spawned a large number of hits, with 8 of the 12 songs on the album charting in my top fifty. She has been quiet recently, although she did release a Spanish language album, and the lead single 'Manos Al Aire' managed to peak at number 19 on my chart. 8. ALICIA KEYSMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (6 weeks, 2007) Other Number One Singles: A Woman's Worth (1 week), Gangsta Lovin' (1 week), You Don't Know My Name (1 week), If I Ain't Got You (1 week), My Boo (1 week), Like You'll Never See Me Again (2 weeks), Teenage Love Affair (1 week), Superwoman (1 week), Doesn't Mean Anything (3 weeks), Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (1 week) Having the number one single of the decade will definitely land you a high spot on the chart, hence Alicia Keys's entry in at number eight of the decade. With 11 number one singles to her name, it's no surprise either. Alicia debuted in 2001 with her massive smash 'Fallin'. Peaking at number one in New Zealand (her only number one to date) it opened Alicia up to the world, her soulful style was/is truly appreciated. Releasing hit after hit, it culminated in 2007 with 'No One'. Despite being hugely successful in the USA, she had not been able to emulate her success down under. When No One was released, she hit the top five in countries internationally (not even just English speaking countries). The success of No One allowed the three follow up singles from 'As I Am' to reach number one on my chart as well. In 2009, she released 'The Element of Freedom'. Despite missing number one in the USA, the album became her first number one in the UK and has given us hits such as 'Doesn't Mean Anything', 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' and current charter 'Put It In a Love Song' 7. BEYONCE KNOWLESMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (7 weeks) Other Number One Singles: Baby Boy (1 week), Naughty Girl (1 week), Irreplaceable (2 weeks), If I Were A Boy (5 weeks), Single Ladies (3 weeks), Sweet Dreams (1 week), Telephone (2 weeks) After leaving Destiny's Child, Beyonce hit it huge with her album 'Dangerously in Love'. Despite missing number one on my chart, the album's lead single 'Crazy In Love' became one of the biggest singles of 2003 worldwide with it's distinctive horns and strong beat. Beyonce, like most of the other artists in the top ten, enjoyed hit after hit. In 2006 her follow up album 'B'Day' was released. From this album there was 'Deja Vu' with Jay Z (#4) and the single 'Irreplaceable' which went on to become the number one single of 2007 in the USA. 2008 was another big year for Beyonce with the release of 'I Am...Sasha Fierce'. Here we saw two sides of Beyonce, the slower mellower "I Am" with mega-hits 'Halo', 'If I Were A Boy' and 'Ave Maria', and the 'fiercer' Sasha Fierce, with fiery singles like 'Single Ladies' and 'Sweet Dreams'. Most recently, Beyonce has been involved in a couple of collaborations with megastar Lady GaGa. Both tracks charted well, with Video Phone reaching number four, and Telephone ascending to the top spot for a two week stay. 6. KELLY CLARKSONMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (2 weeks) Other Number One Singles: Low (1 week), Breakaway (1 week), Behind These Hazel Eyes (1 week), Because Of You (2 weeks), Walk Away (1 week), Never Again (1 week), Sober (1 week), My Life Would Suck Without You (1 week), Already Gone (1 week) The first, and arguably the best artist to come from American Idol, Kelly Clarkson has released four successful albums, each spawing at least one number one. However it wasn't until her second album 'Breakaway' that she was able to claim an international hit in it's own right, and that was courtesy of second single 'Since U Been Gone'. Since then, Clarkson has gone from strength to strength releasing song ranging from radio-friendly pop (Because of You, Already Gone) to strong emotional self-assessments (Behind These Hazel Eyes, My Life Would Suck Without You). Her versatility can be seen in the success of both her slow and fast songs, My Life Would Suck Without You giving her her first number one in the UK and a second number one in the USA. With her 'All I Ever Wanted' tour scheduled to hit New Zealand in April 2010, I'm sure there will be plenty more Kelly Clarkson entries for the year. Top FIVE to be revealed tomorrow!!!! What a week for GaGa! Many entries, returns and jumps. Touring has paid off here!
Paramore need to get to the top! Good jumps for Kid Cudi, Lady Antebellum, Gin Wigmore and John Mayer. Nice to see Sam Clark rebound a little too.
Liking most of the female artists list so far, will be interested to see who is in the top five. Madonna possibly, Britney and Christina for sure and I'm struggling to think of any others, but I'm sure they're obvious. I am a little shocked to see Alicia Keys down at #8.

And here we go with my top five female artists from 2000-2010 5. RIHANNAMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (2 weeks) Other Number One Singles: There's A Thug In My Life (1 week), SOS (3 weeks), Unfaithful (2 weeks), Take a Bow (1 week), Don't Stop The Music (1 week), Disturbia (2 weeks), Russian Roulette (1 week) Pop princess Rihanna has made a huge impact on the world's charts since her debut in 2005. 'Pon de replay' managed to reach number one in New Zealand, while peaking at number two on my chart. Since then, she has been unstoppable, releasing three successful follow-up albums, including 'Good Girl Gone Bad' in 2007. The aforementioned album contained the hit Umbrella, New Zealand's number one single of 2007, and her biggest song on my chart. From that album were a further seven top twenty hits in New Zealand, all except 'If I Never See Your Face Again' peaking in my top ten. In 2009, after the infamous Chris Brown incident (she was attacked by her then partner Chris Brown physically) she released Rated R. The album did not immediately emulate the success of her previous one, but the third single 'Rude Boy' managed to top the charts in Australia and was a hit around the world. 4. MARIAH CAREYMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (5 weeks) Other Number One Singles: Can't Take That Away (1 week) Through The Rain (2 weeks), It's Like That (1 week), Say Somethin' (2 weeks), Shake It Off (1 week), Don't Forget About Us (1 week), Touch My Body (4 weeks), Bye Bye (3 weeks), I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time (1 week), Obsessed (3 weeks), I Want To Know What Love Is (2 weeks), Up Out My Face (2 weeks) The number one artist of the 90's, Mariah Carey has enjoyed, for the most part of the decade, a consistent run of chart hits on my chart. 13 number ones have come out of Mariah this decade, making her the artist with the most number ones this decade (equal with our number three artist). It was in 2005 that Mariah made a huge comeback worldwide with her album 'The Emancipation of Mimi'. Her previous two albums 'Glitter' and 'Charmbracelet' had been relative flops, even in the USA who had embraced her music. Lead single 'It's Like That' peaked in the top twenty in the USA, but it was the second single 'We Belong Together' that gave her her sixteenth US number one. With fourteen weeks at number one it became the biggest track of the decade there, and my number two song of the decade. She continued to release hits - 'Don't Forget About Us' and 'Touch My Body' peaked at number one giving her a total of eighteen number ones. Other tracks such as 'Obsessed' and 'Shake It Off' enjoyed top ten peaks, while reaching number one on my chart. After two moderately successful albums 'e=MC2' and 'Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel', Mariah is set to release a full album of remixes later this year titled 'Angels Advocate'. She has already reached number one with 'Up Out My Face', will she be able to do it with any other songs from the album?? 3. CHRISTINA AGUILERAMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (6 weeks) Other Number One Singles: What A Girl Wants (1 week), I Turn To You (1 week), Lady Marmalade (1 week), Fighter (1 week), Can't Hold Us Down (1 week), The Voice Within (1 week), Tilt Ya Head Back (1 week), Car Wash (1 week), Ain't No Other Man (2 weeks), Hurt (1 week), Candyman (3 weeks), Keeps Getting Better (1 week) For the majority of the decade, Christina Aguilera was at the top of her game, pumping out number one hit after number one hit. On her debut album, she aligned herself somewhat with a lot of the teen pop artists of her day but some of the singles showed an edgier side of her ('Come On Over') and she could definitely sing!!! In 2002 she revamped her image with 'Stripped'. The lead single Dirrrty was a totally different Christina Aguilera to what we had been accustomed to. Despite missing number one on my chart, it was a huge hit in it's own right. It was actually held off number one by the album's second single, 'Beautiful' which reached number one in 2003. Sitting there for six weeks, it became the longest number one of the decade at that time - of course this was later beaten by 'Halo'. After this she has continued to change her image - in 2006 'Back To Basics' was released where she took her inspiration from old-school 30's and 40's big band. In 2008 she released 'Keeps Getting Better - A Decade of Hits' in which she showed a more electro-pop sound. This year she is set to drop a new album 'Bionic', with the way she keeps reinventing herself, who knows what it's going to sound like... 2. P!NKMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (2 weeks) Other Number One Singles: Most Girls (2 weeks), Lady Marmalade (1 week) Don't LEt Me Get Me (1 week), Just Like a Pill (2 weeks), Family Portrait (1 week), U+Ur Hand (2 weeks), Please Don't Leave Me (2 weeks) The key to Pink's success hasn't necessarily been her number one singles, but she has done exceedingly well in producing songs that reach the top ten. With the release of 'Can't Take Me Home', Pink was definitely billed as a strong 'won't take no sh*t from nobody' type of artist. When 'Missundazstood' was released, we saw a more vulnerable side of Pink, and this is what saw her to number one. In 2006 her best album imo was released 'I'm Not Dead'. The track only produced two number one singles, but went on to chart nine tracks, all reaching the top twenty. The album itself did well worldwide, peaking at number one in Australia and New Zealand, and spending a considerable amount of time on the charts. It also went on to become my number one album of the decade. In 2008 she released her most recent album 'Funhouse'. Even after two years the album is still bringing hits for Pink, the most recent of which, 'Glitter In The Air' managed a top twenty peak in the USA. All of the other singles from the album have managed to peak in the top ten, which has guided Pink to the spot of second best solo female artist of the decade. And That Only Leaves One More Position... 1. BRITNEY SPEARSMost Successful Single:Peak: #1 (4 weeks) Other Number One Singles: Oops! I Did It Again (1 week), Stronger (2 weeks), From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart (1 week), Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know (1 week), Not Yet a Woman (1 week), Toxic (2 weeks), Everytime (2 weeks), My Prerogative (1 week), Someday (I Will Understand) (1 week), Piece of Me (1 week), Womanizer (1 week) Needless to say, Britney spears has had her fair share of controversy. We have seen her go from a pop princess to a girl who seemed to be out of her mind shaving her head and going out in public in skimpy dresses and no underwear. But throughout the decade she has brought out hit after hit after hit. It was in 1999 that Britney made her debut, so she was already big going into the decade. With twelve number one songs, and several more top five hits, it's easy to see why she has managed a number one spot. Her albums themselves have been consistent (although even I'd admit that 'Britney' and 'In The Zone' produced great singles but were terrible albums as a whole!) and especially with her most recent two 'Blackout' and 'Circus' she has managed to go from her depression stage back to the top of the charts - literally. Both Womanizer and her most recent single '3' peaked at number one in the USA, given her her second and third number one single. I think that she can look forward to plenty more chart success in the coming decade. WELL DONE BRITNEY!!!!

Haha, can't believe I forgot about Pink and Rihanna. After seeing that it wasn't Alicia, I suspected Britney would be #1.

Pink is easily the Best Female Artist in this List, sad to see her get beaten by Miming Britney. If I was to do a Female Artist List, it would have The Veronicas, Pink and Vanessa Amorosi in it for sure.
