Michael Jackson & Madonna - who also turned 50 this year - got polls and Prince didn't. Hardly seems fair, right? So I'm going to make one for him. Along the way to becoming one of the most celebrated & critically-acclaimed artists of the past 25 years, the man born Prince Rogers Nelson was a music industry envelope-pusher in the 1980s. In many ways, he was the male Madonna...challenging our ideas & perceptions of what images & lyrics were acceptable. In the 1990s, amidst a contract dispute with Warner Bros., Prince changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol...AND the way he marketed his music - choosing to sell his albums exclusively over the internet. In the current decade, after taking back his name - but unfortunately, not his commercial success - Prince has continued to make music on his own terms. He's dabbled in everything from Rock to Pop to R&B to Techno to Rap and so much more. I think about the only genres he hasn't done are Country, Opera, & Polka. So which two of the above hits are your favorites by Prince?

Was a hard vote for me... I voted When Doves Cry and Kiss, though.

I would've made a poll but thought it was past it's time because it's been over a monthe since his 50th. Good idea none the less though What can I say about Prince that you haven't already.... Nothing really But i will say this, when growing up I was hugely influenced by Michael Jackson so much so I had a considerable collection of rare 7 inch & CD singles up until a few years back. I've always admired Prince's work, I bought Diamonds & Pearls (Album) when it came out & loved it. I was more of a fan of his "Love Symbol" album & "The Gold Experience". I was never really into his 80's music until a few years back, and since stumbling across various compilations & greatest hits packages I now have his entire back catalouge. So back to the whole Wacko Jacko sentiments. The reason why i've bored you to tears is because in reality I like Prince's material better than Jackson's. I'd put Prince behind my 2 favourites of Bon Jovi & Pearl Jam In this poll which was really hard btw... I voted...... '7' & 'Gold'

Tough choice, but I went with 1999 and Raspberry Beret.

No Betcha By Golly Wow? I didn't include "Betcha By Golly Wow" because it's a remake, so it's technically not his song. It was originally released by The Stylistics in 1972.
