All of this year's Top 10 were former #1 singles, the first time that has ever happened. The highest non-#1 single of the year is at #12, Sheryl Crow's "The First Cut Is the Deepest". Considering her points were split between two years, that's quite an accomplishment.
10.
Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson
This song became the first song with lead vocals by an American artist in over a year. Kelly spent two weeks on top the chart and is still gaining points.
9.
Summer Sunshine - The Corrs
While only spending a week on top, The Corrs spent 24 weeks on the chart this year with their second #1 single. The followed it up with three more chart singles, making them the #7 artist of the year.
8.
Not In Love - Enrique Iglesias f/Kelis
Another song that spent just a single week on top, but spent a total of 25 weeks on the chart. This was Enrique's only hit of the year, but combined with her other hits, this helped push Kelis to the #8 artist of the year.
7.
Somebody To Love - Boogie Pimps
The first single from the Boogie Pimps spent two weeks on top this year, giving them the biggest single of the year from a Continental European artist. Their follow-up "Sunny" was the biggest non-Top 10 single of the year, peaking at #17, but making #55 for the year.
6.
Leave Right Now - Will Young
This song spent 3 weeks on top this year and 7 weeks on top last year. This song would have been #1 for the year had its points had accumulated in one chart year. It is the third biggest hit of all time on my chart.
5.
Je Ferais Tout - Wilfred Le Bouthillier
Wilfred has to settle for the #5 song of the year after having had the #1 song of 2003 with "Amène-Toi Chez Nous". This single is from his first album, which I received from a friend in Montréal last winter. Nothing actually charted until this summer when I heard this single while on vacation in Montréal and Québec City. He is the #6 artist of the year.
4.
Love The One You're With - Will Young
This album track should have been released as a single in the UK, especially since Friday's Child was only used for three singles, all of which made the Top 5. This spent 4 weeks on top of my chart.
3.
Le Sucre et le Sel - Garou & Annie et Suzie Villeneuve
This is the biggest album track of the year. I would love to see this be released as an actual single in Canada or France, but I doubt it'll happen. This is Garou's second #1 of the year and the first #1 for the Villeneuve twins. This song is actually tied with the #2 song of the year point-wise, but it spent a week less on the chart than the other, so Garou and the girls settle for #3.
2.
Your Game - Will Young
This became Will's third consecutive #1 from his Friday's Child CD. It spent 4 weeks on top and 31 week total on the chart.
1.
Friday's Child - Will Young
This was the year of Will Young - a total of 8 singles appeared on the chart this year one #4, one #3 (both hanging on the chart from 2003), two #2s and four #1 singles. Will is by far the biggest artist of the year, nearly double the amount of points ahead of the #2 act of the year, the Sugababes. Placing 4 songs in the Top 10 of the year is quite an accomplishment. Last year he had but two, the #5 "Over You" and the #2 "You and I", which like "Leave Right Now" would have been the #1 song had it charted in one chart year. Obviously I am eagerly awaiting Will's third CD.
