Tomorrow I will begin to unveil the top 20, but for now, here are 8 albums that were extremely close calls. Some of the albums on my list may have straddled the 2003-2004 border, but I gave them a listen in 2004. CC: Ciara - GoodiesTop Tracks - Goodies, 1 2 Step, Hotline Low Lites - Lookin' At You CC: Blink 182 - Blink 182Top Tracks - I Miss You, Stockholm Syndrome Low Lites - Down, Always CC: Black Eyed Peas - ElephunkTop Tracks - Hey Mama, Anxiety Low Lites - Latin Girls, Smells Like Funk CC: Billy Talent - Billy TalentTop Tracks - The River Below, Voices of Violence Low Lites - Lies CC: Lostprophets - Start SomethingTop Tracks - Last Train Home, Sway Low Lites - Burn, Burn CC: Kylie Minogue - Body LanguageTop Tracks - Chocolate Low Lites - Still Standing CC: Yellowcard - Ocean AvenueTop Tracks - Only One, Empty Apartment Low Lites - Way Away CC: Hilary Duff - Hilary DuffTop Tracks - Fly, Weird Low Lites - Mr. James Dean, Jericho

The only one out of those I have is Kylie... slightly disappointing coming off "Fever", which I liked better.

#20-16... 20. Sum 41 - ChuckTop Tracks - Pieces, Angels With Dirty Faces Low Lites - 88 CanCon's finest rock shines in a more mature and harder edge album for the boys of S41. 19. Jessica Simpson - In This SkinTop Tracks - With You, The Sweetest Sin Low Lites - Forbidden Fruit, Be Jessica's successfull re-release is filled with lovely pop melodies and ballads that re-assure her musical relevance. 18. Alicia Keys - Diary Of Alicia KeysTop Tracks - If I Aint Got You, Harlem's Nocturne Low Lites - Dragon Days This smooth and sophisticated collection of beautiful RnB is what puts Alicia in that league of her own. 17. Sarah McLachlin - AfterglowTop Tracks - Fallen, Push Low Lites - Perfect Girl Canada's leading lady of Adult Contemporary hits all the right chords with a wonderful collection of mid tempo singles and the always classic Sarah ballads. 16. Three Days Grace - Three Days GraceTop Tracks - Home, Scared Low Lites - Take Me Under, Overrated A solid addition to the roster of new Canadian rock with an album chalk full of rock goodness.

Thanks for the comments #15-11.. 15. Britney Spears - Greatest Hits: My PrerogativeTop Tracks - Toxic, I'm A Slave 4 U Low Lites - Sometimes, Lucky A rather pre-mature compilation of hits that is a bit predictable, but nonetheless, Grade A Britney material. 14. Shania Twain - Greatest HitsTop Tracks - Forever And For Always, Honey I'm Home Low Lites - No One Needs To Know The huge Christmas seller, and with good reason, a fine collection of Shania's vast selection of hits filled with pop and country melodies. 13. Maroon 5 - Songs About JaneTop Tracks - She Will Be Loved, Tangled Low Lites - The Sun, Shiver A rather creative influx of infused pop, rock, and rnb that stood out above most albums. Most of the set is good, but just not great. I look forward to their next album to see what they serve up next. 12. Green Day - American IdiotTop Tracks - American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia Low Lites - Give Me Novacaine Green Day's politically charged smash and "Idiot" opera was one of the most creative and needed albums of 2004. They said what no one else did; GD, I salute you. 11. Usher - ConfessionsTop Tracks - Yeah!, Superstar, Bad Girl Low Lites - Do It To Me Despite how over-whored he was in 2004, this album was successfull for a reason. A solid selection of both uptempo and slow paced RnB tracks. Usher hits it right with most, with a few real disasters. Tomorrow, top 10!

#10-6 ... 10. John Mayer - Heavier ThingsTop Tracks - Something's Missing, Clarity Low Lites - Wheel A short, but rather sweet collection of melodramatic alternative singles accompanied by smooth vocals; Johnny boy at his finest. 9. Jet - Get BornTop Tracks - Move On, Look What You've Done, Timothy, Radio Song Low Lites - Lazy Gun Quite possibly the best thing to come out of Australia. Their rock ballads are absolutely phenomenal as highlighted in my top tracks; can't even describe in words. 8. Music From The O.C. - Mix 1Top Tracks - Jem (Just A Ride), Finley Quaye & William Orbit (Dice), Phantom Planet (California) Low Lites - Turin Brakes (Rain City) Music inspired from my favourite TV show is both thoughtful and mellow. Some of the best listening and music for thought to come out this year. Wonderful. 7. Lindsay Lohan - SpeakTop Tracks - Speak, To Know Your Name, Rumors, Over Low Lites - Magnet, First A rather sleek and sheek collection of high class and a tad overproduced pop songs. Lindsay's vocals sound crisp, but it's the beats and the hooks that make this a standout above Hilary. 6. Ashlee Simpson - AutobiographyTop Tracks - Autobiography, Pieces Of Me, Love Makes The World Go 'Round Low Lites - Undiscovered One of the most pleasant surprises of 2004. Who saw such a great pop album coming? Filled with hits from front to back, Ashlee blares it out with solid tunes. Tomorrow - #5, #4, and #3.

Yeay, Ashlee! ;D Oh yes, and I'm bummed that you would call "Be" one of the Low Lites on Jessica Simpson's album! That track is such a good love ballad!

#5-3 ... 5. Kelly Clarkson - BreakawayTop Tracks - Because Of You, Beautiful Disaster Live Low Lites - There are all pretty good. Kelly's solid sophmore effort is a lot more Avril-esque, and a lot more the type of music she should be singing. "Because Of You" is one of the best songs I've ever heard. 4. The Killers - Hot FussTop Tracks - Mr. Brightside, All These Things That I've Done, Andy You're A Star Low Lites - Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine This brilliant set of electro-glam stylized rock is the sweet throwback to 80's glitter rock. The Killers are my favourite band of 2004, just absolutely amazing. 3. Gwen Stefani - Love Angel Music BabyTop Tracks - Hollaback Girl, Cool, Bubble Pop Electric Low Lites - Long Way To Go Gwen lived up to the expectations. Her highly sophisticated and fun infusion of 80's pop and modern day hooks was the exact spice the industry needed. If this doesn't win Grammy's, I dunno what should. Tomorrow, #2 and #1

I agree with you labeling "Long Way To Go" as a Low Lite. It's the only song on Love.Angel.Music.Baby. that I don't care for. And good choice with Kelly!

Here we go. The top 2 of 2004. 2. Destiny's Child - Destiny FulfilledTop Tracks - Lose My Breath, T Shirt, Is She The Reason, Through With Love Low Lites - Bad Habit Well, I know a lot of people thought DC3's new album was a lot of filler, and although that's what I thought at first I have to say that in the course of a few days I became completely absorbed in it. Songs like T Shirt, Is She The Reason, and Cater 2 U are as smooth as RnB can get with each lovely lady pulling her equal weight in vocals. Then the up-tempo and sexually driven Lose My Breath accompanied by one of the best DC3 songs ever Through With Love wrap it all up into a solid package of all things DC3. My favourite album from them, some of their best work, good enough for a #2.
